An Easy Peasy Year (Continued)
Funded Dec 5, 2018I hope this message finds you well@ During our second round of donations, we purchased more jump ropes, hula hoop holders, more balls, two spyder ball sets, and more items that will assist my classes in building a solid community held together by physical activity. The more opportunities my students can receive to experience success, the more they will understand self-efficacy and how it relates to being confident. Us, as people, have the right to feel competent enough to find enjoyment through movement, and I'm happy my students are experiencing that.
Thus far, we've completed a Cooperative Activities, Fitness, Throwing and Catching, and Dribbling with Hands and Feet unit. We still have a few months left of school, and it is my hope that through experiencing all of this equipment, students will be able to design their own unit of study where they get to choose which areas they want to immerse themselves in.
I've watched my students mature and progress since September, and I am proud of all they have learned cognitively, emotionally, and physically. It is my hope that they choose a life of physical activity and not necessarily remember the things we did in class but more the way doing them made them feel.
Thank you again for your contributions to helping me build community though health and physical activity.”
With gratitude,
Coach Daniel

Funded Sep 6, 2018I hope this message finds you well. I felt it was an appropriate time of year to send this letter of gratitude. So much has changed for me in the past year, and you all have been an integral part of my role as a quality Physical Education teacher. When I took on the role of the brand new PE teacher in my school, I knew it would be a challenge because as eager as my students were to finally have PE, any new program requires careful consideration as well as the basic and necessary tools to get the job done. In addition, our school does not have a traditional gym setting, so it was important for me to show my students that the setting they're exposed to does not limit their capacity to be physically active. I didn't know how much money I would raise on Donor's Choose, but I knew I had to try. Your contributions have allowed me to start the school year off with a bang and provide the essential ingredients for a quality Physical Education program. We purchased cones, hula hoops, balls, jump ropes, poly spots, yarn balls, bean bags, lacrosse equipment, hockey equipment, rackets, and other important items that will help me ensure my students are learning the skills and competencies aligned with the National Standards in Physical Education. In addition to skills, my students now have multiple opportunities to experience success in an active environment.
Thus far, we've completed a Cooperative Activities unit where my students engaged in various group activities towards a shared goal. Currently, we are in the middle of our Fitness Unit as they are learning concepts like Muscular Strength and Endurance, Cardiovascular Endurance, Flexibility, Body Composition and practical ways to apply those concepts with skills like Balance, Coordination, Speed, Power, Agility, and Reaction Time. We have a full year ahead of us where we will dive into the shared skills associated with traditional and non-traditional activities like throwing, catching, tossing, striking, dribbling, and strategies along with understanding the life-long value of physical activity and how it can improve their relationships with themselves and others.
As we all know though, knowledge is not enough. People, especially young people, benefit the most when they experience success as that success will motivate them to continue living a physically active life choosing activities they enjoy. This is only the beginning for us, but your donations have put us all on the right track in establishing a strong foundation to carry us throughout the school year. Once again, thank you so much for your contributions.”
With gratitude,
Coach Daniel
