These books were chosen with input from my students as part of their wish list of what books or genres they want our classroom library to have. They asked for more books by and about people of color like them. Our current classroom library is full of well-loved books that are slowly falling apart. It also lacks books that deal with the reality of my students' lives on and off campus. I want more diversity in subject matter and in the authors they read. I want my students to enjoy independent reading. By revitalizing my classroom library I will reach more students.
