My gifted students are infatuated with technology. When they have the opportunity to create presentations using Google classroom, they outdo themselves. I love it too. My students are gifted and these last three years I have enjoyed when they show me, I show them, and we work together using computers. Our school has labs where we are able to get our required minutes using online tutoring, but we don’t have sufficient devices in the classroom for the enrichment work necessary in a gifted classroom. Currently my class has two outdated laptops that are not even working properly due to either keyboard missing keys or working very slowly. My gifted students are at-risk due to the influences of poverty and violence that are a part of their community and having additional laptops in our classroom could help them stay focused in the direction of college readiness. These tablets will help students to complete research projects for elementary social studies and middle school advanced academic courses. They will allow them to search for project ideas, gather pictures and facts, and create multi-media presentations for learning. As we well know, today we live in a technology-based world and many of the students do not have access to these materials at home due to socio-economic reasons. Therefore, these materials are crucial for learning at the school site. The skills developed by using and becoming familiar with such technology are invaluable and will only help these students to increase in other academic areas as well. Please assist my students. If they can receive at least 2 laptops from this good organization, my students will have the necessary tools to utilize these for beautiful projects that will enhance even more the learning they receive at school. Thank you so much in advance for your help.
