  • Learning in Comfort

    Funded Jan 17, 2024

The students have enjoyed getting to use the materials from this project. They have used them during centers and also during rest time. The couch has provided the students with a comfy space to calm down and relax. The rugs, have added color into our room.

I hope to continue to add more items into my classroom for a more relaxing environment. The materials from this project, was a great start to achieving that. I want my classrooms to be a calm space for all my students. Now, that school is coming to an end, over the summer I plan on trying to rearrange the new materials so that I can utilize their full potential for my students next year.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Shaffer

  • Individual Learning

    Funded Aug 25, 2023

We are able to use the table everyday. It has not only benefited working with students individually, but as a group as well. We are able to use the table to work on writing skills, and to do fun stuff like crafts too. The students were excited when they saw the new table. They wanted to know where it came from, and I explained that donors, like yourself, donated money so that way we could have a new table.

We will continue to use the table to help meet the academic needs for all our students. Whether it is working with students individually or working with students in leveled groups.”

  • Learning Without Limitations

    Funded Aug 12, 2023

The students were really excited when all of the materials came in for this project. One of the biggest hits are the sensory toys. At the Pre-K level, there are students that gravitate toward something that will enhance their senses. These toys have been able to calm students down, or distract them when they are over stimulated.

The students are using some of the other materials during afternoon centers. The 'Get Well Center' allows students to use their imagination for real world experiences. While the art supplies gives my students the opportunity to be creative.

The students will continue to be able to use their creativity and imagination throughout the school year with the materials from this project. As the year goes on, they will be able to challenge their learning and abilities with the materials based off of their current needs.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Shaffer

  • Everyday Pre-K Supplies

    Funded Nov 7, 2022

Thank you so much for investing in me, as a teacher, and my students. The students enjoy playing with the new centers from this project almost every single day. I am loving the new stuff I get to use for making our memory books. I am also enjoy getting to read new stories to my students. One of the centers that is a hit with all the students is the 'Picasso Tiles Bristle Building Blocks'. The students love being able to build anything they want with the tiles. What is great about this center toy, is that is allows the students to use their imagination, fine motor skills, and social skills. When multiple students work together to create a masterpiece, it is one of the funniest things to watch.

The students were in awe of all the new things we received. The greatest reaction was from getting to play with the 'Melissa & Doug Fresh Mart Grocery Store'. This was put in our dramatic play area. It is an interactive toy that has similar features to an actual grocery store check out counter. When the students realized that it made beeping sounds when they "checked" an item they were so amazed. They also love using the credit card pad to pay for their groceries.

Some of the other materials that we received, we are going to be using to make crafts. One project I have in mind is making a Valentine's Day gift for parents out of the shrink paper. I'm not sure what we will make yet, but it will be something that parents will get to cherish forever. Plus, the students always enjoy making things for their parents.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Shaffer

  • Learning Happens in Different Ways

    Funded Feb 8, 2022

I was able to receive a lot of materials for my classroom through this project. It provided me with new center toys for my students and also some well needed general classroom supplies. The students get to explore learning through play with most of these materials. I have loved watching them create scenarios with the doll toys in the doll center or explore their senses with the Mad Mattr molding dough. I want my classroom to be a learn through play environment, and these materials have definitely allowed just that.

The students loved all the materials from this project. They, just like myself, were in awe of everything we was able to receive from just one project. They have loved playing with the new toys, and I hope my next group of students love them just as much.

I was able to keep some of the home center materials back for my next group of students. For my students that I will receive this next school year, I hope to be able to incorporate these items at the beginning of the year. As with all the other materials, that have already been put to use, I hope that each student will explore their own learning ability as they play with them.”

  • Senses Help Us Learn

    Funded Mar 2, 2022

When I wrote this project, my main goal for it was to help my students learn about their different senses. What I had not expected was how much these materials were going to help my students who needed a little extra help with their learning. I would give the students who needed help staying focused one of the sensory tubes, and it allowed them to focus on it, which helped them calm down. Students in Pre-K are sensory driven. Which is why I wanted these materials in my classroom. I just love that I can use these materials for a variety of purposes now.

The students were drawn to these materials. Like I wrote before, my students love sensory oriented materials. They wanted to play with them right away.

I will continue to use these materials to teach my students about their five senses. However, I will also use some materials to help students calm down and regain their focus. Students will also get to explore using these materials on their own, which is one of the best ways a child can learn.”

  • Creative Minds

    Funded Mar 2, 2022

As soon as I received the materials for this project, I tried to incorporate them into our center rotations. It was fun watching the students work their way through problem solving and creating. We used the sand materials for our afternoon centers, and the students were able to use their minds to create whatever they wanted with the sand. The gears we started using in both of our morning and afternoon center rotations. This allowed the students to work on their problem solving skills. They started learning how the gears worked, and in no time they were able to create their own patterns with the gears.

The students always love getting new things for our classroom. They become curious when we get something new. They want to know what it is and when they can start playing with it. This usually means, I need to figure out how to introduce it to them sooner rather than later.

I will be able to use these materials for many years to come. Students will be able to work on critical skills they need to learn while they are in Pre-K. I will remain truly grateful for the generosity of donors that want to help me and my students.”

  • In With New Classroom Furniture!

    Funded Mar 2, 2022

I could not wait to get all my new chairs and tables for my classroom. As soon as they got in, we put them together. We was able to use them for the last part of the school year. The tables are not as bulky as my old tables, so it has opened up my room a lot more.

The students were just as excited as I was when they saw them. Some of the students saw me put together the tables, and they were just in awe that we had received them. They wanted to use them right away, just like I did.

I hope that I will get to use these new tables and chairs for many school years. Students will come and go, but these tables will last. They will hold wonderful memories for my future students as they are used for science and art projects, learning to write, playing with centers, and many more activities we do throughout the year.”

  • Learning Through Play is Fun

    Funded Nov 30, 2021

These new materials have been a great addition to our center rotation during our learning through play time. It always makes me so happy seeing my students light up with joy when we get new materials. What makes it better is that we are able to enjoy these things because of the generosity of donors like yourself.

When the students first saw the new materials they were excited. They wanted to know what they were and how I got them. I love explaining to them how people donated their money so that we can have these new items in our classroom.

As we finish the school year, we will continue to use these materials in our center rotation. This will allows every student to have an opportunity to play with each of the materials we received from this project. The materials allow my students to work on their creativity, imagination, and fine motor skills. While although these materials are used mostly for play, they are still able to help my students work on important developmental skills.”

  • Let's Go Play Outside!

    Funded Sep 25, 2021

I really appreciate your generosity! These materials have brought fun into and outside our classroom. We have used the bikes for recess, and the other materials for indoor recess. When it rains or it is to cold outside, we are able to use the Playground Balls, Ring Toss Game, and Bean Bag Toss to burn some of our energy. While the students are playing with these games, they are also able to work on important fine motor skills.

The students were really excited when we got the materials. We got the Lowrider Trike and Regular Trike first. To have some fun with the students, my aide and I put the trikes together, and then rode them into our classroom for all the students to see. They all got up with excitement and giggles. Everyday the trikes are being used, and it feels my heart with joy with how it brought excitement to my students.

I will also be using the Playground Balls on assessments in the future. These materials will help me assess my students' fine motor skills. They will also help the students work with their development of hand-eye-coordination.”

    Ms. Shaffer
