Many of my students come from very poor homes. We are a public school trying to, not only teach our students the curriculum, but also real word issues and values. We are, not only trying to teach them how to solve math problems and read words fluently, but we are trying to teach them to be contributing citizens in our ever-changing society. We want them to know division and verbs and what photosynthesis is, but we want them to have ALL the skills they will need to be successful in our world. Do you know what is so wonderful about my students? They want all of this too.
