Students spend an average of 4.5 hours per day sitting in the classroom. Each class period can be anywhere from 45 to 75 minutes long. In which, the average attention span is only 10 minutes. This means students are not engaged three-fourths of each class they are in! While teachers utilize plenty of tools to maintain student instruction, it is an impossible task to have 100% of students focus 100% at a time. What can be done to bridge that gap? The stability ball chair will boost energy levels and increase productivity with an active body and a focused and engaged mind. The stability ball chair has been created by fitness experts to improve overall well-being and provide an active outlet for having to sit for long periods of time. In turn, this will help students' minds stay engaged. In addition, many students are just plain fidgety. The stability ball chair channels student's physical energy in a positive way, allowing them to focus on their work more completely and reach their full potential as learners. I truly believe having students sit on the stability ball chair during classroom instruction, instead of the traditional hard student chairs, will keep students engaged for a longer period of time. As a result, their attention span will increase, thus getting more out of their instruction and becoming more successful in school.
