Reading and Math at Our Fingertips!
Funded Nov 29, 2023One thing that our post-covid students have had a lot of experience with is technology. Many can argue that this is a positive thing considering the progress in today's world, but there is also an argument for technology being too present in their lives. Whichever school of thought we agree with, one thing is certain, technology is not going away.
Because of the wide achievement gap that has been exaggerated by virtual learning, divisions have elected to work on closing that gap with technology programs specifically designed to target weaknesses and enrich strengths. As you can imagine, there are a few students whose weaknesses are so pronounced they require almost daily interaction with their programs creating a lack of desire to complete these tasks.
This touch screen computer has brought a renewed sense of excitement to our technology based remediation and enrichment programs for these students. Now, students look forward (even argue about whose turn it is) to using this computer at their small group remediation time. Now instead of fighting with a mouse pad on their chromebook, which can be tedious and difficult, they are able to touch, drag, and tap their way though their task.
From the bottom of my heart, thank you for helping to provide a way to get students excited about something that was truly becoming something they didn't look forward to and making it fun and new!”
With gratitude,
Mrs. Leek

Funded Jan 23, 2024This book has brought SO much joy and so many lessons to my students. We read aloud from a novel each day, and the pure excitement when they found out our next read aloud would be a book that each of them would have their own copy of to follow along with (and even read ahead from) was a highlight of this year.
As a child, I was always excited to get a new book in my hand...the feel, the smell, the wonder of what story would unfold. Many of these students do not have a lot physical books at home and being able to foster this love for literature is something that, as a teacher, is so important to me and I know you as well. I want you to know that they were absolutely as excited as you would have hoped they would be.
This story in particular helped us explore themes of empathy and how our actions affect the world around us. It made my heart smile to see this story bring out the caring hearts that these young students have.
From the bottom of our hearts, thank you so much for your part in making this such an enjoyable experience and for helping foster a new generation of book lovers.”

Mrs. Leek
Roomers & Zoomers
Funded Dec 23, 2020I cannot begin to describe to you how ABSOLUTELY invaluable the laptop that you so generously funded has been this year. Technology has taken it's turn in the spotlight this year and we were sorely underprepared with aging machines that have seen their better days. I have been able to use this laptop daily Zooming with my virtual students and creating Google lessons and assignments for virtual and in person students with the added bonus of being able to take it home to continue the preparation this year has required. This year has been a challenge unlike any other. I thank you from the bottom of my heart for caring so much about our young students and providing tools that have made this difficult journey a little easier.
With ALL my gratitude,

Can You Hear & See Me Now?
Funded Dec 22, 2020I cannot begin to describe to you how ABSOLUTELY invaluable the head set and laptop stand that you so generously funded has been this year. I use them daily to allow both my virtual and in person students the best opportunity to hear me clearly and see me as I walk around the classroom assisting my in person students. Being able to wheel my laptop around while I am Zooming has allowed me to attend to and observe both groups of students, which, as you can imagine, has been a challenge. This year has been unlike any other. I thank you from the bottom of my heart for caring so much about our young students and providing tools that have made this difficult journey a little easier.
With ALL my gratitude,

Apple of Our Virtual Eye
Funded Dec 19, 2020I cannot begin to describe to you how ABSOLUTELY invaluable the iPad & Apple pen that you so generously funded has been this year. I use them daily to provide instant feedback to my virtual students as well as my face to face students. Being able to use the apple pen to quickly let students know how they are doing has been such a time saver during this year in which there is so little of it. I also use it to write on lesson slides for live virtual lessons. This year has been a challenge unlike any other. I thank you from the bottom of my heart for caring so much about our young students and providing tools that have made this difficult journey a little easier.
With ALL my gratitude,

Coming in Loud and Clear: a Journey Into Virtual Learning
Funded Aug 25, 2020We have been virtually learning since the beginning of the school year. During this time, we have had to completely change the ways in which we give and receive instruction. It has not been easy. We have faced many challenges, but because of your kindness, students have been able to use their earphones to help focus on instruction and tune out the distractions around them. Many students are learning alongside siblings and parents who are working from home and would find it very difficult to focus without your generous gift. From the bottom of my heart, I thank you for being a partner in the education of our children and helping ensure that our future leaders know that they are cared for supported through every step of this most unusual year.
Thank you for supporting teachers and students!”

Wiggling and Wobbling Our Way Through Third Grade!
Funded Aug 20, 2018I am beyond grateful for your kind and generous support in helping purchase bounce bands and wobble chairs for my class. They were all so excited to see the chairs when they arrived and couldn't wait to try them out and the bounce bands have been a big hit too! They have allowed my students flexible seating choices during guided reading, math groups, work stations, and computer time; and have been especially helpful in providing an energy outlet that allows them to stay focused, engaged, and on task. Thank you again for caring and for being a part of the success of our children.”
With gratitude,
Mrs. Leek
