Crafty Creations
Funded May 27, 2010How can I thank you enough for your generous donation to our class. I will be sending thank you notes and paintings that the students in my class have worked on. The students all have severe and profound mental and physical disabilities. They are not able to write, draw, paint, or even communicate independently. The adults in the classroom helped the students to create their pictures and thank you cards. I tried to choose art projects that the students the students could complete with the most independence. We will also be posting pictures soon. Your donation has ensured that the students in my class can express themselves through art. Though they cannot express their thanks in words, know that the smiles on their faces each day say all the thanks in the world.

Hands-On Literacy
Funded Feb 12, 2010How can I thank you all enough for your generous donation to our class. I will be sending thank you notes and paintings that my students worked on. The students in my class all have severe and profound mental and physical disabilities. They are not able to write, draw, paint, or even speak independently. The adults in my classroom helped the students to create these tank you cards and pictures. I tried to choose art projects that the students could complete with minimal assistance, such as sponge painting, dots, and hand prints. We also took some pictures of the students working in the class. Your donation has ensured that the students in my class can take an active part in the reading process. With hands on manipulatives and colorful story books, reading can be very fun and exciting for all. Though they cannot express their thanks in words, know that the smiles on their faces say all the thanks in the world.”

Spring Play for Children with Severe Disabilities

Your donation has ensured that the students in my class can experience simple play activities. They have truly enjoyed the balls with bells in them. They can hear the balls coming and they seem to make their own "music." They also love the scooter and going for rides on the playground and through the school.

Photo Memory and Learning Books
Funded Dec 17, 2008Thank you so much for your generous donation. The students in my class enjoy looking at themselves in pictures. Also we can make personalized books using out pictures to make concepts more meaningful and memorable. Using pictures of real life objects and of students doing activities is very meaningful to children with disabilities. These stories are personalized and real to the children.
