My students will participate in novel studies this year in 5th grade. I want to offer my students the opportunity to read rich literature that allows them to view others' backgrounds, experiences, and challenges. Several of the titles I've selected for my students to enjoy are Wonder, Rules, Out of My Mind, and Fish in a Tree, which all focus on demonstrating kindness, tolerating unique differences in others, and finding friendships through their diverse characters. Our novel studies this year will foster empathy and compassion in our classroom community. I can't wait to share my love of reading with my students!
