  • Everyone Deserves a Seat at the Table!

    Funded Dec 30, 2023

It has been such an exciting time in our classroom the past few months! The students were smiling from ear to ear when they saw these new additions to our class. They immediately asked when they could start using the chairs. Whenever there is an opportunity, students are constantly asking of they can sit in the comfy chairs! It has been such a joy to provide them with an alternative seating option that they have never experienced in a classroom setting before.

Students are using these chairs to do all sorts of things! They are using it for independent reading time, completing work on a clipboard, and also playing together. One day, four students each took a chair and made a row to sit right next to each other like a movie theater! It has been so fun to see students be comfortable while learning. Thank you for your amazing support and generosity.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Le

  • Third Grade Tech Transformation

    Funded Jan 9, 2023

I cannot thank you enough for providing my students and me with technology that has genuinely transformed our days in the classroom. The Apple pencil helps me maximize teaching time in a seamless and interactive way. I often use it to show students how to solve math problems or show them writing tips. I am so glad that I am not wasting time cleaning whiteboards so much anymore! Students LOVE to use the Apple pencil to show their work and share with the rest of the class. The doorbell has also helped students recognize the quick transitions between activities, and they have so much helping me pick new tunes to use. Thank you so much for giving our class the ability to try new things and have fun doing them!”

  • Third Grade Reading Skills on Fire!

    Funded Aug 12, 2019

Under these heartbreaking and unpredictable times, I am reflecting on this past year and realized that there is still a space to celebrate- the accomplishments of my students. With the Kindle Fires, my students were able to use reading apps to help surpass their independent reading goals. It was truly amazing to see how adding tablets in the classroom made students excited to read.

I have a handful of boys in my classroom who compete on the tablets to beat each other's reading quiz scores, and the has been immense. Although I am not able to see where my students ended up in their reading levels this year, I know that I can use technology to invigorate my students for years to come.

I will continue my journey as an advocate for my students and I cannot thank you enough for your generosity.”

  • Binders, and Folders, to Organize, Oh My!

    Funded Jul 26, 2019

Under these heartbreaking and unpredictable times, I am reflecting on this past year and realized that there is still a space to celebrate- the accomplishments of my students. With the binders and folders, students were able to organize their notes, assignments, quizzes, etc. These skills became natural towards the end of the year.

Although this may seem like a small victory against all the obstacles they face as students of color, I am grateful for the opportunity to provide my students with life long lessons of productivity. To see my students' smiles when they decorated their binder covers is a memory I'll cherish forever.

I will continue my journey as an advocate for my students and I cannot thank you enough for your generosity.”

  • Our Readers are Ready

    Funded Sep 14, 2018

I am so thankful for your generous donations to my classroom. This technology has truly impacted the way my students learn each and every day. With the headphones, my students are able to foster their literacy skills through personalizing their strengths and challenges in ELA. They are able to focus on what they need to work on and have fun using technology at the same time! Because of your generosity, my students are all able to use this technology to enhance their learning. As a first year teacher at a school with limited means, it is difficult to gather all the resources that my students need to succeed, but with your help, I have been able to add to my teacher toolkit. My students will continue to use this technology throughout the year to harness their literacy skills and I am so excited to see them meet their goals!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Le

My students have varying levels of reading and writing proficiencies, but they work rigorously every day to build their skills. Part of their standardized testing requires them to engage into a listening activity. The headphones would help them practice for this portion of the test and boost their confidence when testing approaches. TIME for Kids would also be a great asset for my readers because they find informational texts exciting and feel as if they are exploring the world through words. Even though many of my students are struggling to build their reading and writing proficiencies, they are motivated to challenge themselves and accomplish their goals. Reading can be frustrating for my students at times, but these resources would be a great addition to the classroom because they are both fun and educational. My students are eager to learn every time they are in class, so I always strive to provide them with ways to enhance their learning.
