Meaningful Learning with Nearpod
Funded Dec 12, 2023Thank you so much for your very generous donations. You have truly impacted my students learning. Using technology in the classroom makes a world of difference for the students. Not only does it keep them engaged but it gives them opportunities that are different than what you can get with paper and pencil. Through Nearpod students are able to explore far away places, manipulate 3D objects, and demonstrate their knowledge in a variety of ways.
For many of the students Nearpod, especially those who are more shy and quiet, I have seen them open up in new ways. When they see the iPads come out, they get extremely excited and animated. They actively participate and show their knowledge in a variety of ways.
Thank you again for helping me create an amazing learning environment and experience for my kid.”

Funded Jun 2, 2022Thank you so much for donating and helping me and my students receive the 3D Doodler Pens set. These pens are my students first introduction into the world of 3D printing. When we first opened the materials not only were my students excited but myself and my coworkers too. The students were intrigued before we even turned them on. The first time we gave it to them we let them explore how to use them with very little direction on what to do. As always, they surprised me immediately. Their screams of delight when the filament started to come out and their perseverance to keep trying even though their design wasn't exactly what they wanted it to be.
As my students have had more practice they have been able to create pictures, characters and objects. For the holiday break they made 3D ornaments to give to their families. Through the use of the 3D Doodler Pens the students are learning about 3D design. They are learning to think about designing and drawing in 3 dimensions. The next steps for my students is to use a program called TinkerCad to start digitally designing the designs they have made with the 3D Doodler Pens.
Even though my students are young, they are "WOW"-ing me, my coworkers and themselves with the designs they are creating. Thank you so much for your donations! Because of you my students are getting an opportunity to learn about 3D printing. This knowledge and practice at such a young age is opening up new possibilities and opportunities for them in the future!”

Funded Aug 22, 2018I have to start off with a huge thank you! Without your support and donations my future computer science engineers would not have access to the Lego We Do or Milo (their favorite robot to make)! I used Milo to get my students excited about Computer Science. When they first met Milo they were elated! I used the Lego We Do story in order to get the students thinking about why we need computers and engineers.
After watching the little movie, they met Milo the Space Rover that was going to help the Lego people. Although they thought Milo was cool to look at they were even more excited when they saw that he could move and that they are the ones that control how he moves! Now every time we talk about computer science they always ask, "Where's Milo?". The best part is that they are excited by him moving but, genuinely interested in figuring out why he works and how they can get him to work!
The Lego We Do has given my students the opportunity to build their own robots and see how we can use computers to program robots. Additionally, it has opened up the conversation of how we "talk" to all different types of computers. My students have explored iPads, computers, Siri, google home, desktops, laptops and more! By the end of this program I hope to have my students coding not only Milo but coding using different apps like Kodable and Scratch Jr.
Thank you again!”
