Powering Up Learning: iPad Power Banks for Prepared Students!
Funded Apr 18, 2025Thank you for your generous support of my students, teachers, and our library. With your help we will now be able to offer a power source for students whose iPads need a charge. This may sound like a small thing, but it will have a powerful impact on the teaching and learning taking place in our classrooms each day.”

Our Students Need Library Supplies
Funded Sep 18, 2024On behalf of my students and me I thank you and the Donors Choose Community for supporting our Library Supplies project.
Your donation helped us purchase five, much-needed iPad cases to replace our damaged ones. The students were beyond excited to see the five new purple iPads. I didn't see the need in telling the littles they're the same devices we have been using all along. Only problem is that all the kids now want to usethe purple iPads...it's a good problem!
The Bluetooth speaker has been getting lots of use and sounds amazing. It really brings library ebooks, music, and videos to life!
The additional iPad charging station has been a lifeline for students with dead or dying devices. Inevitably, several students a day have forgotten to charge their iPads at home.
The PlayDoh kits have been a big hit with the kids as well as the teachers who borrow them for use in their classrooms.
Please know your generosity has had a positive impact on my students and we are so grateful for you!”

Funded Apr 8, 2023My students and I thank you for your generous help in getting our new iPads for the library. The old iPads were not able to be updated to the latest IOS, making them more vulnerable to security threats. We can use our library iPads knowing they have the latest security features installed.
One of the students' favorite learning tools which we use often is Kahoot!, a gamified learning and assessment app. Students are excited to show what they know and to compete with their classmates. Our library iPads are also used for accessing ebooks, watching educational videos, playing learning games, exploring Google Earth, and much more.
Purchasing these new iPads would not have been possible without your generous donation. We are very thankful that you thought of us!”

Mr. Goldberg
eBooks for Remote Learning & Enjoyment!
Funded Dec 4, 2020My students were beyond excited to learn that my DonorsChoose library ebook project was fully funded! Suddenly they would have access to many of the books they had been requesting for some time.
Seeing kids getting totally excited about books, sometimes to the point of shrieking with joy, is incredibly gratifying for me. I hope that hearing about the positive, school-wide impact of this project on my wonderful students is just as gratifying for the generous donors who made it possible. My students continue to request new ebook titles and I still have some funds left to get them the titles they want.
My students and I are truly grateful for the generosity of our thoughtful donors!”

Funded Aug 25, 2019My students and I thank you for your thoughtfulness and generosity. The iPads you helped us purchase have made a huge difference in our STEAM / Robotics Makerspace! Before your support we had many more robots than we had iPads to program them. These six new iPads give 12-18 students in each class the chance to participate more directly in our robotics and coding activities.
Our students are incredibly engaged and cooperative when working with our Dash and Dot, Ozobot, and other robots. It is thrilling to see some students who may not enjoy regular academic success in their classrooms, really shining amongst their classmates. It's hard to describe the pride that these students show when they are asked for help by their peers. For some, it is their first taste of leadership in an academic endeavor.
I want you to know you have made a significant impact on my students and their school lives!”

Funded May 28, 2018Thank you so much for your generous donations to my Lego engineering project. It took me some time to finally get the materials in the students' hands, but when I did...WOW! I wish you could have been here to see and hear the students' excitement when I told them they would get to be Lego engineers in the library.
I had shared with them several books about characters who build, tinker, design, and create, and we discussed what engineers do. Then we talked about the Engineering Design Process where engineers will Ask, Imaging, Plan, Build, Improve and Share their designs. Well, when I said they would be engineers in the library today they flipped! I left the activity open-ended, asking them to imagine, plan and build an original invention, such as a vehicle, a building, a playground, etc. They worked cooperatively and came up with some wonderful creation. Their engagement and focus was inspiring!
I want you to know these experiences might not have happened for these kids without your generous help, and I can't thank you enough!”

Building a Makerspace Takes Materials!
Funded Nov 3, 2018This is so exciting! Thank you so much for your generous donations! My students and I are incredibly grateful for your help in bringing these exciting materials to our new Makerspace! I know the kids are going to be thrilled to work together designing, building, and tinkering. Again, our heartfelt thanks to you!”

A Laptop for the Library
Funded Nov 27, 2017On behalf of my students and myself, I wish to thank you for your generous donation towards the new HP laptop for our school library. Having this laptop means that more of my students can gain valuable access to the internet and other digital resources like Microsoft Word, and Google Docs.
The surprisingly large screen size of this device, compared to my much smaller Chromebooks, means that students all clamor to be the one who gets to use it for their library work. I make sure to rotate users so that all my students get a chance to experience working with the laptop and Windows 10. It actually seems to motivate them to work harder when completing assignments.
Again, thank you so much for your generosity. It has served in its own way to make my students and my time in the library more powerful and educational.”

Funded Sep 13, 2017Thanks to your generous donations, I was able to start a Robotics and Coding Club at my school! This school year, I will lead three groups of third, fourth, and fifth graders on Friday afternoons in my library, exploring a variety of robots and the computer code used to program them.
The first group greatly enjoyed the hands-on, creative activities that the Lego WeDo kits offered. Students built cars, windmills, rovers, and other fun projects. But, unlike the Legos from our childhoods, these Legos have a "smart hub" block which can be programmed from a tablet or cell phone to power motors and sensors, bringing their Lego WeDo creations life. It was an incredibly fun way for kids to learn about computer coding and engineering!
My students and I are truly grateful for your generous help in bringing this exciting program to life.”
