I include a listening center in my classroom to expose my students to quality literature and provide examples of fluent, exciting, and engaging reading. Though I read to my students at story time, the listening center allows students to have more ownership and responsibility as they listen. Students must gain experience with books by turning their own pages and interacting with books independently. The audio technology I am requesting for this listening center allows students to have these experiences without disturbing students in the classroom who need to concentrate on other activities. I have also requested a few book/CD sets. I have ensured that these sets include high-quality books that will help students fall in love with literature. Lastly, I would like a storage piece that will help us keep these materials organized, easy to access, and long-lasting.
