  • Making Place Value Tangible

    Funded Sep 29, 2022

The resources that were donated to our math class have provided countless supports to my group of learners. We utilize the place value manipulatives, magnets, and ten frames EVERY DAY and the students have been progressing with addition, subtraction, multiplication and division each day because of these visuals and manipulatives.

The teaching white board is a perfect addition to our classroom and again is utilized daily! My learners love to show their work and teach others since it's easy to use and right at their level. The magnetic part of the board makes it easy for us to display what's needed for the given lesson.

Overall, we are very thankful that you donated to our classroom! We continue to be in awe of the generosity sent our way and thank you for helping to enhance our learning!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Otero

  • Students as Teachers

    Funded Jan 23, 2020

As I write this, I'm very emotional. I'm not in my classroom with my little lovies as I call them. I can only see them on a computer screen or some not at all. But I wanted to say thank you. I appreciate it so much!

When I first told my students about our project, they didn't understand how people that don't even know them were going to help buy them something so great for our classroom. With each donation, I kept them in the loop!

When we finally received the board and charts, they all wanted to use it right away and they did! My students loved playing teacher and sharing what they learned with each other and that was because of you and your generosity!

I wouldn't have been able to do it without your support and kind notes.

I can't wait to go back and use the chart as it was intended, for the students' imagination and learning!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Otero

  • Reluctant Writers turned Newspaper Reporters!

    Funded Mar 13, 2016

Thank you so much for your generous donations! Our little newspaper club grew over the year and now as we send these young reporters on to middle school, I can't help but wonder what would have happened without newspaper club.

The students were so excited about the donations they received and have been using them to collaborate on their last newspaper. They couldn't believe that someone that did not know them were gracious enough to supply them with the materials we requested making participating in the newspaper club that much more fun!

Each of them have a reporter's notebook and have been writing about topics that are near and dear to our school.

Thank you again for making our little newspaper club a success!”

  • Growing Scientists in the 4th Grade!

    Funded Dec 22, 2014

Thank you so much from the bottom of my heart! Your donations have led to a lot of creativity and learning with hands-on science materials! Our students were excited to see each box opened up and taken apart. Science excites them and makes them want to come to school and learn as much as they can!

My students are using the resources you have donated to prepare for their upcoming science performance test and fair! They have been creating electrical circuits and growing plants inside their homemade greenhouses! After vacation, we are very excited to have the rotting log delivered to observe a tiny ecosystem at work!

My students have been able to use the materials donated to understand topics in a more visual and hands-on manner. They are truly learning by doing!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Otero

  • Mission Organization: Creating neat and colorful spaces

    Funded Aug 6, 2014

Thank you so much for your generosity! Your thoughtful donation has provided our classroom with much needed organization! Our students were very thankful to have a place for their belongings and how colorful they made our classroom! They enjoy their new "clubby" and keep them clean and neat!

The book bins are on each table and organize our students' daily notebooks and folders. They keep their pencil cases in it as well. The colored drawers are used to organize math and reading small group work and the paper organizer and hooks are helping to organize and showcase student work!

This Donor's Choose project helped our students' learning by providing them with the organizational materials necessary to participate, cooperate, and be prepared for each lesson. It's wonderful not to hear, "Where's my ...?" all day long! :)

Thank you so much! You sure have made a great bunch of 4th graders and this teacher very thankful and appreciative of your kind donation!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Otero

  • Would Love A Classroom Carpet

    Funded Dec 21, 2010

Words can't express how appreciative I am of your generous donation. Each day, our students learn about great people, places, inventions, mathematical concepts, and a variety of 4th grade curriculum on your beautiful donation. They take such pride in ensuring that the carpet that was graciously donated is kept clear of pencil shavings, papers, and whatever else may appear on the floor during the day ;) When we first unrolled the rug, it took the students about 10 minutes to adjust to their brand new seating area. They were 'claiming' states to sit on and one boy was shaking. He said, "Ms.O, I think I'm going to cry!" We were so moved by their reaction to your donation, that just watching their faces as they were moving about was priceless!

Our students are not afforded the luxuries of brand new things in their life, that this, very COLORFUL, donation to the class has been such a nice gift to them.

The bright, new, colorful carpet has not only brightened up our classroom, but our students lives as well. For they will never forget the generosity and kindness of you all.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Otero

Thank you for your time and consideration! Our 3rd graders love to learn and are willing to try their best everyday. Many come from low-income families. With that, school supplies and meals come directly from our school. Teachers at our school struggle to supply much more than our share of knowledge to our young scholars. Our school is a rather small school in a poverty stricken area. There are gangs, violence, and drugs all around the community in which our school is located. Because of this, our school remains our students' only source of safety and security. In our classroom, there are two teachers. There is a special education teacher and a general education teacher. We provide ALL of our students the support and guidance they need daily to succeed!
