Count at Home
Funded May 7, 2020Thank you to the donors so much for the support you have provided to myself as well as my students during this time of a pandemic of Covid-19. It is crazy how this thing has affected everyone including teachers and students in school. The early years of learning for young children are all about teaching them cognitive skills, social skills, and physical growth, and that was what was abruptly taken away from my students. So the supplies supplied to my students allowed them to continue some of their learning at home. Something I wanted to provide for my students was necessary supplies to help continue their learning at home.
At home my students are creating math problems and solving them in their new math journals at home. They are counting objects and bears at home to help build their basic math skills of counting and solving simple problems. They are also counting up to 30 as they should because counting to 30 is one of their Pre-K learning goals.
Providing families with a math journal, counters, a counting chart and markers gave them the tools they needed to continue support while quarantine at home. In the math journal there are prompts to help them encourage critical thinking .
The kids were super excited when they received their new supplies to continue support at home. The mission is to continue their learning and creating math problems at home.”

Funded Feb 19, 2020Thank you so much for contributing to our music project, "Music Make You". We get to spend some time to dance, listen and play music using our new instruments. The students and I are so excited to enjoy and take on this new journey in making some cool music sounds.
Again thank you so much for allowing me to bring the arts of music in the classroom.”

Funded Dec 2, 2019Thank you so much for generous support of giving my students new materials to write and count with. We have been non stop counting the new dinosaurs on number mats to writing letters in our names. The students the activities very amusing as to if they make a mistake they can always erase on the white boards and try try again. Something I do not look at with them are mistakes but to give it your all and try try again.
Somethings we learn with the new materials are the recognition of numbers and letters that are reviewed daily and the support of the development of other number skills, such as counting. And one of the most important ideas about counting that many children do not develop is this: the last counting word tells how many. That is something we work on each day and they relate it to what they already know, and so the counting is more meaningful.”

Funded Dec 13, 2019Thank you for your loving gifts of paper, markers, pencils, pencil sharper and pencil pouches. We are so excited to have your support. Through your donation we have been able to write and draw each day with a need of paper, markers and pencils to write with. It is the simple things in the classrooms that make a difference in the eye of the students. My students love to write and draw and with your help, my students are able to do so. You truly make the difference for us, and we are extremely grateful!
My students all have their favorite colors to draw with. Since having each color in the rainbow my students very excited to be able to do just that.
Our next steps is to take great care of our supplies because we love them just that much and we are responsible in doing so. So we always put the tops on markers and pencils away to keep everyone safe.
Again thank you for restocking our classroom shelves with needed supplies.”

Funded Dec 2, 2019Thank you for your generous gifts of tablets to use in the classroom and a printer to show visual aids. We are thrilled to have your support of bringing technology into our classroom. Through your donation we have been able to have an added bonus of learning through technology and printing knowledgeable information on paper. You truly make the difference for us, and we are extremely grateful!
As you can see by the photos my students were very excited to receive the tablets. Kid friendly apps were added to the new gadgets and students took turns browsing through learning alphabets, numbers, shapes and colors.
Again we are truly thankful you took time out to support myself and my students in learning skills to better their futures.”

Funded Nov 16, 2019Thank you for your generous gifts of stocking stuffers and whiteboards with markers. We are so thrilled to have your support. Through your donation we have been able to accomplish writing the first letters in the students' names and continue working toward the goals of writing stories. You truly make the difference for us, and we are extremely grateful!
Young students need lots of practice with fine motor skills to learn how to form basic skills of holding a pencil to write letters to write their names. And with the help of white boards and dry erase markers my students can practice their writing skills over and over and over again. The students use the boards each day and they get excited about how their writing skills are improving. My parents are also excited when they see their students writing letters before pick up times. These activities are used each to help the students grow independently as they are learning to write more and more.”

Funded Nov 6, 2019Thank you so much for supporting my students during this past 2019 holiday season. My students were so excited to hear that (DonorChoose partners) Santa will stop by our school and share holiday cheer. My students were able to open presents and stockings during the winter break. Some students may have only received what was offered to them from our school due to parents not being able to afford gifts for them. Because of your generous support smiles were placed on all the students faces and you could see confidence on their faces because of supporters like you care for those in need.
My students during the winter break were able to practice fine motor skills and writing letters uppercase and lowercase and writing letters in their names.
Thank you once again from the bottom of my heart. Gratefully yours.”

Science and Early Literacy
Funded Sep 23, 2019Thank you again for sharing your love in supporting my students with new technology in the classroom. My students and I were so excited to receive a awesome light table and learning materials to go along with it. My students could not believe their eyes that the table actually light up so I show them when we cut the lights out, plug the light table up and light on. Technology in the classroom help my students learn their letters and numbers. Technology help promote active play, the students learn about animals and their bone x-rays. The light table helped encourage the students' creativity and develop digital skills. Again thank you for all you do for my students in the classroom. Their minds are exploring new possibilities and learning lots of concepts and building learning goals as well as developing skills.”

Funded Apr 30, 2019Thank you for the opportunity to allow my students to express their feelings through puppet friends and books on feelings. At the Prekindergarten level, students are learning how to control their feelings and emotions. Sometimes they have a hard time doing so. So the puppets give them an outlet to use when their feelings and emotions become uncontrollable. The puppets are easily accessible to them when needed. We also read the books about feelings when time calls for the use of them.
As a Prekindergarten teacher I teach my students ways to become familiar with their basic feeling words such happy, sad, scared, etc... The new materials exposed the students to a wide variety of uses of how to express their feelings in new manners. After use of the new materials my students can now identify their feelings with the storybooks. I would also model facial expressions (drawing attention to face with gestures) when commenting to children using feeling words, the puppets and books read to them.”

Funded May 29, 2019My students and I would love to thank each and every one of you for your generous support of helping us read to learn. We read books recently about Halloween pumpkins while counting them and naming the color and shapes as we read. We read books about animals of each letter of the alphabet while holding the animal puppets one by one. My students were able to learn that in the world around them, there is an animal with the first letter being one of each alphabet. My students were so excited to learn about new animals to them that they did not know exist. They were also able to hold the animal puppets in their hands. The children were super happy to play with puppets as well.
Reading a book in my classroom looks like a specific time during reading, the children are learning a new word with it meaning. The children are able to demonstrate how to properly hold a book while looking at the pages and reading the words. The students also learn and know what the author and illustrator does in a book as well. They also know pictures in a book tells the story. So if they are able to interpret what the picture is say then they are also reading the book without reading the words.”
