Understand Feelings
Funded Sep 18, 2021Thank you so much for supplying my students with needed learning materials about using and expressing your emotions and feelings freely and acting in a positive way. The books added to the library brought smiles and happiness to their faces. They are learning to be proactive when it comes to expressing how they feel.
Learning to read is a needed foundational skill that Pre-Kindergarten students need to learn to move forward into the next grade level. So learning alphabets letters and sounds and expression gives them much needed skills to learn beginning reading skills.
Reading in the classroom looks like taking a book first and learn how to care for it. Next we do a picture walk through of the book. The students look for familiar pictures and possible letters and words they may already know. We follow with sounding out and reading the words then sentences. Once the book becomes familiar to them, they may take the book on their own and discover more from it.
Any new materials brought into the classroom bring excitement to them all!”

Funded Jul 27, 2021Thank you donors once again for supplying my students with much needed basic learning materials to help them with mastering letters of the alphabet and numerals 0-100. Counting with colorful jumbo buttons using the number lines allows them see objects also with the flash cards the learning objective to commit to memory. The Crayola concept math books allows the students to visually see math in everyday form. Did you know as you pour cereal into a bowl you can see colors and count at the same time?
I love to take everyday objects my students see around them and bring the focus into the classroom. So when they are home they can teach and learn the concept there.
Everyday rather home or in the classroom, my students continue to show excitement to learn. So ABC and 123... A song and chant we create in our minds and we see with our eyes and hands. We love to learn and again we thank you for supporting us with our growth and development.”

Funded Apr 12, 2021Thank you donors. With the purchased materials, my students were able to continue learning at home with needed supplies and learning materials ways to improve their skills at Alphabet knowledge and fun. I created for them summer at home learning kits with lots of activities built upon learning to recognize their letters and sounds. One activity in particular we used in our learning is a Alphabet Folder. The folder contains lots of ABC practice using form letters and letter stickers. And the students enjoyed searching for letters in their names as well.
As said before--alphabets teaches us so much. With the knowledge of learning the fundamentals of alphabet knowledge, my students will be able to look at words and know how to pronounce to the sound which helps them to learn how to read words then words turn into sentences. There in the end they will know how to read a book. So with this project being funded you are helping my students to build vocabulary and foundational reading skills.
Again we are truly grateful for your support in helping us succeed at ABC Knowledge!”

Funded Apr 12, 2021Thank you so much presenting my students with Fuel for the Brain. My students are able to enjoy snack treats while learning to master the class of Prekindergarten. My kiddos are from low income households where financially times are hard for them to get by. So having bags of healthy snacks and treats are an added bonus for them. And they are able to focus on learning and building knowledge. Not having to thinking about where "snacks" come from is a good thing for the whole family not to worry about is a big deal for them. There are so many necessary essentials needed and my families just can not afford it all by themselves. My families are making just enough money to pay their bills and fuel for the brain provided by DonorChoose and it affiliates is a big deal to us.
The children were very grateful and exited to receive kindhearted snack items. Giving my students healthy snack options to choose from at home while working together learning the foundations of Pre-K during the pandemic has made a big difference in their lives to make sure all are not left behind due their economic status. They are able enjoy a snack and learn too. Again thank you.”

Funded Apr 7, 2021Thank you so much for providing my students with much needed and useful art supplies. They really enjoyed drawing, coloring and creating new artsy creations with individualized learning art materials just for themselves to use at home while learning at the same time. My students are using the needed materials such as the slime and playdough and paint and paint brushes during at home learning mastering gross motor skills.
While being able to paint at home because learning materials are available to them, they are able to develop muscle control large and small as well as hand and eye coordination. When the students knew what was the big surprise, their eyes lit up with excitement and joy having their very own paint and paintbrush to create masterpieces while also mastering motor skills gross and fine.
The next steps in this project is to continue to help my students continue to learn and be creative with the new paint supplies supported by DonorChoose and its affiliates.”

Funded Jan 12, 2021Thank you so much for providing my students with needed school materials to help them continue their learning while at home together. The materials provided like school essential kits, markers, and math counters allowed them to practice writing and counting objects to help build upon writing and counting.
When my students received their materials they were so excited as they knew that more help was on the way to help them achieve their PreK goals. Having the at home learning kits will also provide parents and students with extending learning to home
and emphasize the need to assist families with creating home environments that support children's academic progress. And having learning essential kits will help close the gap for no to low income families of having much needed school supplies at home to work on daily lessons with students and help make them successful in learning the foundational skills of Pre-kindergarten.
Next steps are to help continue my students on their adventures of learning by providing more much needed school supplies at home during these uncertain times while we learn together at home.”

Funded Nov 17, 2020Thank you so much for providing books for my students to continue their learning at home during these uncertain times. Many families are dealing with a lot and providing school supplies to meet some of their learning needs was a big help especially a book to read with family and enjoying the adventure of learning something new. My students were able to read about an adventure while home together during these uncertain times.
Early literacy in the classroom would look like students beginning the transitions of learning early literacy skills to actual beginning stages of reading. These skills would include vocabulary, phonics, language, and numeracy, and others. Early literacy gives students the foundation they need in order to learn and grow which having basic school supply needs at home such as books to read would brighten their chances of continuing to learn away from school while at home still learning. My students that are moving on to kindergarten the next school year are particularly excited to have a set of books to read while preparing for the next grade level.”

Funded Nov 12, 2020Thank you donors for choosing my class of new building vocabulary cards and strategies. My students and I are always grateful for your support. During this pandemic we have come together as one yet we are far apart. During our online classroom sessions, I have divided up the new resources and explored them one by one looking at the cards building and learning new words.
Showing students vocabulary cues would make the association between words and guide them to what they need to know to get to a point of learning something they do not already know. Looking at picture cards would help give my students the boost they need to get their minds thinking to help develop beginning language knowledge and skills and to develop those vocabulary words to continue the process of helping them to learn basic reading skills and knowledge as well.
A language environment is important to children's early learning because it can have
strong effects on early language, vocabulary, reading, and math skills, and help with
children's social-emotional development.”

Funded Nov 8, 2020Thank you donors so much for providing my students with holiday creations to keep their minds busy learning and engaging. They were able to open at least one gift from under their Christmas tree during the holidays of 2020. They all has much excitement on their little faces. This school year had so much uncertainty and with the help of DonorsChoose my students were able to celebrate the holidays with a little smile on their face.
Thank you once again for providing art supplies like crayons, markers, water color paints and playdough to give opportunities to my students to express their feelings in art creations. They were able at home to draw and create awesome holiday pictures using their imaginations with. Many students from my school are well deserving young kids who go without things like school supplies to continue their learning during hard times and you have made a difference in their lives to do so.
And they were able to continue their counting practice with the counters. Now my students use their counters at home to count past 30 which is one of their Pre-K goals for school year.”

A New Reading Adventure
Funded May 28, 2020I would love to say thank you from the both of my heart. What a world wind of events has taken place this the beginning of this year. Education as know it has to evolved into something better and greater than it ever has before. My students now are learning from home and I know they have some great adventures to share in their new reading book adventure kits.
My students have always loved to write and express themselves on paper through writings and drawings. And with the new materials they were able to do so. We shared as class how we are and were feeling at the time that the pandemic has adjusted the way I myself teach as a teacher and the way my students learn as students. But again it is the new way of doing things to help improve our lives that makes up better then we were before.
Again I thank you and so does my students as they are able to write what they are thinking and can share with me the teacher and their parents how they feel when they see the world around them.”
