The Umbrella Project

Thank you so much for the umbrellas for our students. We are a school with a larger percentage of Title I students. Many of our students are commuting to school and a lot of these commuters walk or take the city bus. These students are more likely to come to school on rainy days (which can be unpredictable in Houston) because they have a sturdy umbrella.

When students received umbrellas on rainy days as they were either coming in or going home in the inclement weather they were so excited to know that they were not going to have to walk home in the rain. They had a visible sense of relief knowing that they had protection from the weather both coming to school and going home.

These umbrellas were gifted to our students in need and will be used to the remainder of the year, after which they will be able to take them home.”
