Since its inception, TAPA has placed strong emphasis on the SAT, which is the most widely accepted college entrance exam in the U.S. While SAT scores have long been correlated with household income, TAPA is determined to continue supporting our students as they break through these barriers to become first-generation college students and graduates. TAPA students take the PSAT three times and the SAT at least twice to achieve the best possible score, and participate in rigorous preparation challenges throughout their high school career. TAPA's SAT momentum was recently demonstrated in April 2019, when a greater percentage of TAPA students met or were achieving the college readiness benchmark on the ELA portion of the PSAT than the Rhode Island average; now, it's time to get those same results in math. This is a huge breakthrough for a school where up to 90% of students qualify for free or reduced-price lunch, and we hope to capitalize on this accomplishment in the math portion next. Your support of TAPA's SAT Math Preparation Equity project will provide one set of TI-84 Plus calculators to students for use on the math portion of the SAT exam, as well as preparation leading up to this critical test. We don't want a lack of funds to stand in the way of our students having the best possible chance on the SAT. Thank you for believing in TAPA!
