A majority of my students lead lives of trauma. With the items I'm requesting, I can add to the level of comfortability in my classroom. With the use of stools and comfortable bouncing balls to sit on, my students will be provided a sense of safety in the classroom and a sense of comfort. If a student is having a particularly challenging day, I can allow them to sit on a bouncing ball with feet instead of their normal chair to give them an extra sense of ease. My project will instill a love of learning in a comfortable environment. My goal is to get all of my first grade students on reading level and I can do this by offering not only incredible literature to my students but alongside that, offering an option of unique seating. My students will become lifelong lovers of reading if they know that reading doesn't always have to occur at their seats. Lastly, I plan to use the resources I chose for my project to instill community. Items such as stools and exercise mat will help facilitate buddy reading time, community building time, and discussion time. With these resources I can divide up my students and give each group an opportunity to communicate while also in a comfortable environment.
