Collaborating Minds One Rug at a Time.

Funded Aug 21, 2019

Thank you once again for donating to my project "Collaborating Minds One Rug at a Time." My students were so surprised when the UPS man delivered our rug. We as a class worked together to fold the rug out. The first activity we did was gathered in a circle and wrote down some activities the students would like to do on our new rug. One of the activities that were suggested was reading to a stuffed animal. Each student was assigned a reading buddy at the beginning of the year. The students take time each day to read to their reading buddy. This helps the students build fluency. We do this activity often throughout the week. The love sitting on the rug with their reading buddy.

As my students has grown over the few months I have been able to use the wonderful rug for a variety of activities. My students love to work in partners and they often sit on the rug to work with their partner. My students also love math and one of my favorite activities to do on our rug is to create math stations. I create 5 math stations and spread them out on the rug. I then use a timer to time each group in their station. The students love doing this and they enjoy sitting on the rug. The final activity my students love to do on the rug is use our mini laptops. The students have a chance to use these throughout the week and I allow them to find a comfortable place on the rug to stretch out and do our assignment.

Once again I am thankful for those who made this project happen. My students love doing activities on the rug and I enjoy sitting with them. My students are now more eager to sit on the rug and learn as well as play games. Thank you again for helping me fulfill my project and helping my students in their studies.”

With gratitude,

Ms. Burnette
