My students are ray of shining light in an otherwise depressed and poor neighborhood. Over 75% are learning English as a Second Language, which is a challenge in and of itself, yet they persevere. Despite their surroundings and language difficulties, attending school is the highlight of their day. Many tell me they would rather attend school during vacation time, rather than sit at home. They have so much untapped potential just dying to get out.
