I am adding new and diverse books to my class library. A more robust library will help each student find a book they like. Each quarter students do a Book Talk with me- a verbal and informal book report. They can choose the book and this helps build a love of learning. I have had a lot of success with this assignment and have students who hate reading succeed with having little restriction on what they read. Students can check books out of the library at any time, and have time every Friday to spend on the book of their choice.
