The calculators will be used to help support my students in the regular education curriculum. Often my students are unable to keep on pace with their peers during math class due to deficits in their remedial math skills (adding, subtracting, multiplying, dividing). As we continue to learn and build those skills, my students need support so that they do not fall behind. The calculators will allow my students to solve higher level math concepts (algebra, geometry).
The binders and dividers will be used to organize my student's IEP goals and data by area (math, reading, writing, behavioral, social emotional). Previously, I have used pocket folders for each student, which did not allow me to organize by the various goals. The student's will also be included on the organization and progress monitoring of their goals to help them take ownership of the academics and learn about their strengths and needs. As 8th graders, this will be important for their self advocacy skills as they transition to high school and beyond.
The anchor chart paper and markers are something I use frequently. I create anchor charts for each new unit highlighting the background knowledge/skills needed or breaking down the multi-step concepts. A few examples of previous anchor charts I have made are breaking down two-step equations in math, how to make inferences in reading, and how to create an outline in writing.
The laminator will be used for the resources my students use at their desks. A few examples of resources I have given students in the past are writer's checklist, multiplication tables, and commonly misspelled words.
Lastly, the candy is simply to help motivate my students because they are middle school students after all!
Thank you for your time and donations!
