My students would benefit from being introduced to the world of coding. Coding is an extremely useful skill to possess. Coding encourages problem solving, it teaches children how to think, it expands their creativity, and allows children to have fun with math, which will lead my students as they continue to grow through school and into the workplace. This will be my students' first experience with robotics and coding. They will learn together, make mistakes, and then continue to problem solve until they get it right. We are requesting resources to support a variety of learning activities to teach coding at a young age. With society ever changing, technology is becoming even more prevalent in the classrooms. With the completion of this project the students will be introduced to several coding activities. The Robot Races Coding Set engages the students in pretend play as they are the robot moving themselves in the correct direction. This allows them to physically be a part of the coding experience. At such a young age it is important for children to have a variety of activities to keep them focused. Coding Critters is a coding activity which allows the students to interact with fun stories and familiar characters they can relate to. Students will need to work together, problem solve, and get creative to bring the story to life. When the students are comfortable with coding, they will be introduced to three robotic kits that will allow them to dive deeper into the world of technology and coding. With these materials accessible to my students, they will have the opportunity to be proficient coders.
