The students need water test kits to apply concepts of water quality and to take an interest in their immediate environment. They will undertake water conservation projects which will teach concepts and skills they can take with them into adulthood. Biology students have a large unit relating to understanding concepts of gene modifications and DNA technology. Students have a great interest in this with recent publicity about genetically engineered foods. We need some DNA related educational software. Our class projects will allow students to further investigate global food distribution. These two projects will be two of our biggest science units, and I think they will leave lasting impressions for years to come and spark future interest in STEM fields.
