  • For The Future Scientists!

    Funded May 24, 2024

I want to take the time to thank you for funding a project that allows my students to connect with the standards they have for their grade level. My students learn in diverse ways. They need more than just textbooks and videos to learn about topics they are tested on. They need hands-on activities that allow them to connect with the topic. The TPT gift card will allow me to purchase online projects, games, and activities that will help my students with concepts and vocabulary.

The books for science and stem lessons that you funded are also hands-on activities that will allow students to work in teams to create concepts that they see happening in their everyday lives and for the connections to future concepts they will be continuing to learn. It will also allow my students to connect with things that may interest them in courses they will take in middle school and hopefully spark interest for future jobs in the field of science. Working in the inner city, these activities are some of the only exposure my students will get to hands-on activities. My students get the chance to explore topics of their choice and the headsets that you funded will allow students to listen to topics that they are interested in and use them to learn about things that they may want to find out more about and make possible career choices in.

Thank you again for your generous contributions and help in making science more enjoyable for my students and helping to give them more of a well-rounded science program with exposure in as many ways as possible for all my diverse learning needs.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Panza

  • Getting the Big Picture!

    Funded May 9, 2023

I want to thank you for the amazing new projector for the classroom. We were without one for a little while and I just wanted you to know it came just in time for students to present their math, science and social studies projects and slideshows. It also came in time for end of the year reviewing for those subjects as well. We will be ready for the fall when we start our virtual field trips for science and social studies. This tool is used throughout the day for all subjects and is the tool that allows learning to happen together!

The students really do enjoy the educational games the get to play together and this projector makes it happen!”

  • Having Fun While Engaging in Math and Science

    Funded Oct 5, 2022

Having the access to giving student the materials for more visual learning after having the last 2 and a half year being very difficult and inconsistent in their learning. My students were coming to me with having a 2 and a half year deficit in all academic areas and there was a lot of catching up to do. Giving them materials to fill in the gaps they are missing in science and to supplement math materials that allowed them practice of math skills has made such a difference.

My students enjoy science and art, allowing them to learn and having hands on lessons that they can interact with and be creative with makes in the learning process has made it fun for them! Learning about earth science and grasping content. I have been able to cover multiple standards from the last 2 years and preparing them for the 5th grade science testing they will take this year.

My struggling readers that have difficulty with the text they have to read have made connection to the materials with the visuals and pictures that have come along with some of the materials. This has made all the difference in their learning and making the connections needed in understanding the material and connecting with the standards and objectives given to them in being successful.”

  • Need Extra Support? I Have Something For That!

    Funded May 28, 2021

Thank you all so much! We we have started the year I am so happy that I had this project funded. As we have had to have an inventory of out technology taken in after the pandemic, so I have had the ability to have access to wonderful teacher made supplemental materials that allow my students to have targeted instruction of skills that they are missing in ELA, math and to help them grow in fluency while waiting on the redistribution of that technology and not having to wait to get their learning back on track and fill in the learning gaps.

This last year and a half with online learning has show that there are many learning gaps and having a combo class of 4th and 5th graders, I really needed the materials to offer extra support, as we get our technology back and our online support programs up and running, I can then use more of this funded project to add support to their online learning with online projects, which they are excited about.

We have had the chance to do some STEM activities already to get the students excited about doing science this year and working together with their peers. Our school is supporting the idea that we need to get multiplication practice up and going for our upper graders and this funded project will allow me to have more engaging resources for the students to become more proficient. I am also excited to use this fund to make social studies more engaging, the more hands on I can make the lessons the better it will be for them and there are some fun and exciting things I will be purchasing with this funded project.

I really want to thank Donors Choose and the wonderful donors that helped fund this project, it has really made all the difference already and will continue to throughout the rest of this year.”

  • Kids Are Crazy for Copies!

    Funded Aug 9, 2020

As I thought about what the year ahead was going to bring when applying for this project, I thought packets were going to be needed for the students to take home to work on, then the shift happened and everything needed to be online. So this was a blessing all in its own. Having this multipurpose machine has allowed me to have access to uploading all my materials I took home that I have created and using online platforms like KAMI to make them editable for students to fill in. It has saved me so much time from creating/recreating new materials. It has allowed me to use materials I know helps my students and having them accessible online by uploading them through the scanner. Also, making copies for the assessments I need to work on with my class. Some are having a difficult time using and navigating the online school platforms, so I wanted to make their assessments as accurate as possible and having the ability to print multiple pages for each student to record their responses has been wonderful. I also have been able to make recording sheets for myself to be organized. From homework and reading logs, to fluency passages, reports and more, having this machine has made quite the difference and I look forward to taking it back to my classroom for use. Having this while not being on campus has given me access to all I would need while working safely from home. Thank You.”

  • Engaging Materials Are in Great Need!

    Funded May 17, 2020

I am sorry I am not in the classroom to show you wonderful works of art that my students have done with their smiling faces, but I want you to know I see the smiles on my screen and the impact it has made for them to have access to worksheets and materials that they can fill in and show what they have learned. It has given me access to all subject areas that I can upload to their Google Classroom or their Learning Management System. It has made it so that their work is easily accessible and can still be fun and entertaining. Its not just boring black and white uploaded copies. It also makes it easier for me to read and grade. Its a step up from looking at text photos they submit that aren't always clear. I also want you to know that this is going to help me throughout this whole year. I'll be able to find materials to keep them engaged. As an example, they will love using the colorful hamburger thinking map to help with their writing. With this online style of learning any way to keep them engaged is important. They know I applied for Donors Choose and they say they are thankful for all we have received. Thank you for making it possible with your donations!!!! Your making it possible for them to learn with fun interactive materials and for me to purchase those materials that would be very time consuming to make and instead focus that time on improving their learning and on their health and mine!”

  • Growing Our Classroom Technology Garden!

    Funded Dec 1, 2018

THANK YOU!!!!!!! We are so grateful that this laptop came just in time! We are getting started on our science projects and writing assignments, so it will allow more students to have access for completing their group research projects and writing pieces. It gives them time for research, learning how to create documents and all aspects that come with learning basic computer skills. This laptop helps us get one step closer to completing our hope for all students to have more individualized time and access to our growing technology garden in the classroom. This will also allow our students to get more time completed during the week for personalized online math and language programs to help them strengthen their skills as the year continues. Thank you again for helping us get one step closer in creating our technology garden dream!”

Our students will use our laptop computer for so many things. They will be able to create classroom projects that include creating slide shows or use websites to create videos, research for informational and opinion writing, and collaborate on research projects that will including history and science. Also, they can use the laptop for creating classroom presentations and use it for educational websites to strengthen their reading, comprehension and math skills. There is always a need in getting used to navigating on a computer as well as on the World Wide Web. Having technology that is accessible to them in the classroom will help them do that.
