  • Help Us Recharge with a Charging Station!

    Funded Aug 28, 2024

Thank you so much for your generosity! You have provided my 6th graders with opportunities to incorporate technology into their daily work. ELA is not one size fits all! Some of us are visual learners while others are auditory or kinesthetic learners. This project will embrace all of our learning styles and help us to become more independent scholars.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Castellano

  • Building Literacy Skills with Digital Texts

    Funded May 11, 2023

I cannot thank you enough for the Scholastic digital subscription. My 6th and 7th graders have really been enjoying the content offered, and the variety of material offered. As we all know, kids usually feel more comfortable reading digital texts rather than handheld books. Scholastic digital access has allowed my co-teacher and I to provide high-interest texts to our students, even the reluctant readers! The kids are exposed to a variety of genres (poetry, historical fiction, realistic fiction, plays, etc.), which many of them do not have access to at home. The best part is that they can access the materials at school in the computer lab or from the comfort of their homes (if WiFi is available).

Scholastic digital magazine offers supplementary materials, such as graphic organizers and differentiated leveled texts, so that ALL students can access the work. This makes our life easier and allows students to feel like confident and successful learners.

We are eternally grateful, so please know that you have made a difference in our students' lives.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Castellano

  • Reading and Writing Stars

    Funded Nov 1, 2019

Thank you so much for donating to our special cause. Not all students learn in the same way, and your generous donation is helping to make this evident to others. I can’t wait to see my students’ faces when they see their new flexible seats. It will be a relief for them to have an outlet to release their energy during reading and writing tasks. Your donation will make a huge difference in the lives of children with special needs.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Castellano

My students’ classifications are all diverse, but their learning needs are all the same. They struggle with inattentiveness, hyperactivity, impulsivity, word retrieval, letter/sound retention, etc. Reading and writing don’t come easy to most kids, never mind children who have learning disabilities and are also English Language Learners. Your donation will help to fund much needed materials, so that these children can develop a better sense of autonomy and self confidence. It is important that they understand that they are valued just as much as their general education peers, but that they may learn differently, and they have their own strengths too.
