The biggest focus of my project is flexible seating. Students get bored and frustrated with sitting in the same chair/desk every day during school. To promote engagement and focus in my classroom, I would like to give my students the option to have flexible seating. Using options such as the inflatable ball with stable legs, padded stools, portable lap desk, and the bean bag chair. This allows students to change up their routines. I would also like to implement stretch foot bands for the use of my students. The bands are to be placed around the legs of the student's desk or chair for them to put their feet on. This allows students to either bounce or stretch the bands as they work or pay attention in class. Flexible seating limits student distractions and gives children an outlet for their built up energy during the school day. The stretch bands are exceptional when it comes to allowing students to keep their bodies moving while staying in their seats and continuing to keep engaged in classroom activities. It is also important for my students to have activities for the cold, rainy days where recess must be spent indoors. I would like to have games that are both fun and promote critical thinking/motor skills for my students.
