  • Resource Refresh

    Funded Jan 28, 2025

Thank you so much for your kindness and generosity! This teachers pay teachers gift card is very helpful and one of the resources I utilize most to differentiate instruction and add visual supports for my multilingual learners. Your continued support for teachers and students is noticed and appreciated by our families in Pittsburgh.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Stonick

  • Back to Basics

    Funded Dec 13, 2024

Thank you very much for your kindness and generosity during this giving season. We are looking forward to a new document camera, erasers for our white boards and freeze pops for when the weather warms up! You truly make a difference in the day to day lives of teachers and students.”

  • Indoor Recess Games

    Funded Aug 15, 2024

Thank you very much for your generosity. We are in the heart of Pittsburgh and we often have indoor recess on cold or rainy days. These resources will help students stay engaged during recess and learn how to play cooperatively. Board games and cards are a wonderful way for students to learn essential skills such as turn taking, problem solving, making conversation and how to cope with losing. It is always exciting to have new materials to share with the students, they will enjoy these games throughout the year. Thank you again for your kindness.”

  • Watch Chicks Hatch and Grow!

    Funded Apr 28, 2024

I am always very grateful for your generosity! This is my favorite yearly project and the students talk about it year after year. This years eggs are due to hatch on October 9th and we are so egg-cited to have new chicks to care for and learn about. We utilize this experience to learn about life cycles, how to care for living creatures and to see chicks at different stages in their development. Our school is in the heart of Pittsburgh so it is always a joy to bring a little bit of farm life to the city! Thank you again for your continued support!”

  • Ready Freddy on to Second Grade!

    Funded May 5, 2024

Thank you very much for your continuous support and generosity! Our students were thrilled to take home their very own copy of Ready Freddy this past week to share with their families. We have read nearly the whole series this year and I know it is a book they will love to read again and again. Also, now that they are second graders many of the students have the decoding skills to read it and show off their learning to their families! This is a tradition that we do every year and it is one of our favorites. Thank you for your support!”

  • Resource Refresh!

    Funded Apr 17, 2024

Thank you very much for your generous donation. I am intentional about the materials that I use with my students and I want to make sure that the learning is differentiated to meet their needs. It is very helpful at times to have a teachers-pay-teachers gift card available to purchase the things that I need to support my students with specific skills. On more than one occasion I have found it helpful to look for activities with more visual support for my language learners and TPT is the perfect solution. I appreciate your kindness and I want you to know that it is definitely is making a difference.”

  • Classroom Basics

    Funded Oct 17, 2023

Thank you very much for your kindness and generosity. My students benefit from the classroom basics that you have helped to provide. The laminating sheets and zipper bags are used all of the time to help us stay organized and keep materials in working order. The students love the alphabet puzzles and they provide great practice for letter names and sounds. They also are an opportunity for students to work as a team and talk about their learning. Your support truly makes a difference, and we appreciate all that you do!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Stonick

  • Charge Without Chaos

    Funded Aug 2, 2023

It is so wonderful to have an organized classroom where students have the autonomy to manage their own materials. The charging stations make a huge difference because each laptop now has a home and the cords are organized. Students are no longer wasting time detangling cords and can get right to the task at hand. Additionally the magnetic organizers are a great space for me to store my dry erase markers, erasers and letters for word building. I used the scalloped border to prepare a bulletin board for student work. Thank you again for your generosity.”

  • Games and Goodies

    Funded Aug 2, 2023

Thank you so much for your continued generosity not just of my classroom but many of the classrooms at Arsenal. We are fortunate to have your support throughout the year! My kiddos are mostly between the ages of 5-7 and they truly benefit from having a small snack to boost their energy in the afternoons. Additionally, on Friday we save the last period of the day as a time to celebrate our week, socialize and learn to work together and take turns. I typically set out stations such as puzzles, magnatiles, blocks, board games, play-doh, etc., with 4 kids at each spot. The extra magnatiles and puzzles will be a wonderful addition.”

  • Hello Second Grade!

    Funded May 10, 2023

Thank you so much for your continued generosity for both my classroom and other classrooms at Arsenal. Your support is tremendously appreciated! This past school year was truly incredible and Donor's Choose played a huge role in our success. In my classroom last year we painted pumpkins, hatched chicks, learned fire safety from local firefighters, went to a local bakery to make bread, hatched butterflies, visited with baby lambs and much more. This project was a way for students to reflect on the year and share these wonderful experiences with their families through a memory book. I was able to add in photo pages and a note from me as well. It was the perfect way to transition to second grade!”

Each day my students engage in small group rotations to meet their individual needs as learners. Some options during our rotation time include teacher-led instruction, differentiated independent practice and a stop at a technology center (computers or listening). Each station is designed to meet the students where they are and move them forward in each domain (reading, speaking, listening and writing). These materials will help my students become organized and focused learners! First graders love to wiggle while they work, the balance balls and stacking stools will provide them with a flexible space designed for movement and the opportunity to choose a working space that works best for them! The chair back buddy pocket charts are seat sacks that students will use to store their materials in all year. These will help the students build independence and become responsible for their own materials. Finally, the headphones will be used in our listening center and technology center during daily small group rotations to support fluency and comprehension. My students are eager learners who will thrive when provided with a structure that encourages autonomy. I can't wait to see how these materials support student voice, choice and engagement! Thank you!
