  • Adventures in Literacy: Building Worlds with Dungeons & Dragons

    Funded Feb 10, 2025

Thank you so much for your generous donations! Your support means the world to us and will make a huge difference in bringing literacy to life through Dungeons & Dragons.

This is great for our students, who will now have the resources to build reading, writing, and teamwork skills while diving into imaginative adventures. Your kindness is helping create a fun, engaging space for them to grow and learn.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Gardea

  • Sit and Read!

    Funded Nov 4, 2023

I want to extend my deepest gratitude for your incredible generosity in funding our recent classroom project. Thanks to your support, my students now have access to much-needed resources that will enhance their learning experience and create a more engaging environment. The books you helped provide will not only foster a love of reading but also give my students the opportunity to explore new worlds and perspectives. They are excited to dive into the new stories, and I know that these books will be a staple in our classroom for years to come.

The highlighters, sitting cushions, and headphones are also making a huge difference in the day-to-day learning environment. The sitting cushions have created cozy reading and study spaces, where students can focus more comfortably. With headphones, students are able to concentrate better during independent study sessions, which is especially helpful in an honors class. The highlighters are already being used for note-taking and annotating texts, building their skills in critical reading and analysis. Your donations have truly impacted their ability to succeed academically.

Thank you for believing in our students and for being a part of their educational journey. Your contributions not only provide physical resources but also instill in my students a sense of support and encouragement. Knowing that others care about their success motivates them to strive for their best. We are all incredibly grateful for your kindness.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Gardea

  • Books for Teens

    Funded Jan 27, 2022

I wanted to express my gratitude for all that you put in to this project and let you know how much it truly means to my students. I have had so many students take advantage of the great selection of books you provided. Several of my students this year made a book club from one of the books in particular. It has been great being able to provide them with such engaging books in my classroom. I have students who try to complete their work early so they can go choose a book or read one they've already chosen. Thank you so much for your donation.”

  • Organized After the Pandemic

    Funded Oct 10, 2021

We have made so much use out of this donation this year. It has provided my students with valuable resources that we use each and every day in the classroom.

The posters come in handy during specific lessons and as the students are working independently. I introduced each poster to the students and put it on the wall for them to reference. Now when they need to think about their punctuation, they can refer to that specific poster for support.

The most beneficial resource has been the highlighters. Before this donation, I was trying to split 15 highlighters I purchased between 35 students. It was a struggle. Now, each group has five different colors they can choose from as they work. They are able to highlight and make use of their metacognitive thinking skills as they look over their writing.

Another useful resource has been the giant box of pencils. Every Monday, I grab a handful of pencils and put them in a bucket by my door. The students know they can get a pencil from there if they need one. This eliminated another resource problem because I only had access to about. 5-10 pencils a week but need about 20-30 depending on the activities.

Thank you very much for this donation. It has made such a huge impact on my student this year and will continue to help them as we round out our learning this semester. We appreciate your support!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Gardea

  • Food to Nourish the Body and Fuel the Brain

    Funded Aug 12, 2021

My students have gotten so much use out of this project. They have had access to so many resources in my classroom that they would have struggled to have without your help. Many of my students with needs for food had quick access to take care of that need. My students who menstruate were able to discretely get what they need and get back to focusing on class work. Without having this in the classroom, they would have had to go all the way to the nurse and then back. Which is generally a 10-20 minute trip depending on the nurse's schedule. My students know they can come to me if they need something. Many students will come to my room to use the lotion that was purchased. Or they will ask for a chapstick because they do not have access without this project. Thank you for your donation. You have directly helped 180 students who were able to focus on their education in the classroom.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Gardea

  • Book Club for Change!

    Funded Oct 25, 2018

The very first day I opened the box of books, I had one student who was very excited. (I had mentioned to them all that I would be receiving them.). That student could not wait for me to start the book club. He took the book home and brought it back the next day. He handed it to me as he walked in to class. "Didn't like it?" I asked. "No, I already finished it." He replied with a small shrug.

The book club has impacted many of my students. They enjoy the time we get to spend together talking about the book and their reactions. I am using this book as a way to gain student interest in reading and so far it has been pretty effective.

Thank you so much for the opportunity to do more for my students. We are eternally grateful!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Gardea

All of the items I chose, saucer chairs, balance balls, and lap desks, can be stored effectively around the classroom. This will allow students the chance to get moving while they work. The students will have stations around the room each with a different part of the lesson to work on. The flexible seating will keep the lesson interesting as students move around the room. Providing flexible seating maximizes student attention. While also giving them a choice in their education. They get to choose where they sit, which puts them in the "driver's seat." Students will also be participating in small book clubs throughout the year. These groups will meet using the flexible seating that they choose.
