If you never learned how to read, you wouldn't be right here, right now, exploring my project. Reading, interpreting information, is a necessary skill for communication in any language. How many times have you heard some form of the following: "I took Spanish in high school and I can't speak/understand a thing."? With this magazine subscription, kids get the opportunity to explore interesting cultural information at an appropriate level with vibrant visuals, and authentic audio to increase engagement. There are additional digital resources that will allow students to hear (interpret) the language as students hear conversations about the various topics within the magazine. This resource provides options for developing both of the interpretive communication skills, reading and listening. Additionally, this gives students interesting, culturally engaging topics to talk about in the target language. With this resource my students could crush so many of the goals we have for second language learning including gaining cultural awareness, comparing cultural similarities and differences, interpreting materials aurally and visually and, the ultimate goal, using the language, not just learning about it!
