Our classroom is currently stocked with low lexile works of fiction. While these books have been great at getting our students interested in reading, our higher level readers are not being challenged enough. Nearly 100% of our student body is Hispanic and low income, yet our library is filled with white male authors. Our students need challenging books written by minorities. I'm hoping to fill the library with books written by authors of color. My students need to know that there is a world where they can be Hispanic and successful. Help my students break the glass ceiling of achievement and start to bridge the gap between our minority learners and middle class America.

About my class
