So Fresh and So Clean!
Funded Dec 13, 2024I am so excited that this project got funded, and I cannot wait to make these products available to the students I teach. I know that although they are small items, they will make a big difference in the lives of my students. I am very thankful for your generosity to help ease the anxiety that my teenage students may experience related to personal hygiene.”

Health Class Relaxation
Funded Nov 3, 2024Thank you so much for caring about the mental health and well-being of my students, and to contribute to this project. This will definitely help to create a warm, welcoming space in our classroom, where all students feel safe and supported. The students will make use of all these items regularly!”

SHS Girls Love Volleyball(s)!
Funded Sep 9, 2021Thank you so much for your donation towards our volleyball equipment. We were able to use the additional balls to support our JV program in the fall, and reach over 20 new volleyball players. The students loved that they didn't have to use older equipment that was not in great shape, and as the JV team, didn't feel like they were slighted at all.
Now that the volleyball season is over, our coach is running a volleyball club for both girls and boys to improve their skills and the extra equipment has made an impact for that group of students as well.
Additionally, our PE classes were able to use the equipment during our volleyball unit and ensure there was enough for all students to get individual skill practice, which really helped in their development for that specific unit.
This equipment will be put to use again next season for our JV girls program, and we are incredibly grateful that strangers cared enough about our teams to contribute to this project.”

Funded Nov 20, 2020This year has been a lot of ups and downs. The plans to return to school changed several times over the year, but our students have not returned yet. I am excited to share that some of my 9th grade PE students will be returning to school on 5/10. There have been some hiccups with my project, as three times I have ordered items and they were not available. I know that COVID has impacted the shipping and ordering of items.
As I begin to welcome students back to school, I hope to send them home with equipment to participate in class while they are on their virtual days.
Thank you so much for your generosity to our PE program and to my students! I will surely post pictures of the students when we return to school and are able to use our new equipment. I foresee this being able to be used next year as well, since I'm not sure if we will be 100% back in the building by then.”

Bang Bang Saul Gang!
Funded Aug 23, 2018We just finished up our Drums Alive unit in 9th and 10th grade PE at Saul High School. My partner and I were really excited to introduce the students to an activity that they had never done before, nor had we taught. We planned out songs that would start out easy and work up to more difficult both in coordination and fitness benefits. My partner and I purchased waste baskets from the dollar store and blew up all the stability balls the week before so we were ready to hit the ground running on Monday.
When the students arrived, they were very confused why we were drumming in PE but they were extremely excited to try something different. Many of our students love music and we do not have any musical outlets here at Saul. There are no music courses, no band, no orchestra. They were overexcited to get those drumsticks into their hands and immediately started making beats on their stability balls.
We started out with a really simple beat to "We Will Rock You' by Queen just to get the students acclimated with different techniques and how to incorporate exercises while drumming. We did a LOT of squats!! Teaching these lessons all week multiple times, I was pretty sore!! Our students all explained that their legs were sore during the week, which means we gave them a good workout without them even realizing it was happening! The cardiovascular and muscular endurance benefits of this activity were great. We did about 5 different songs per day and the students really looked forward to new routines each day.
We are so grateful for the generosity of the donors to this project that allowed us to purchase the drum sticks and poly-spots. With about 250 students using this equipment for the week, we only had 1 broken drumstick! We look forward to doing this activity again next semester with our new students.”
