Let's Play While Staying 6 Feet Away!
Funded Dec 7, 2020Thank you so much for these great educational games. My students look so forward to having a break in their day when they get to play. It has been an usually stressful year for these students and their families.
Due to the current pandemic, students are not allowed to interact with each other. So, this means no recess or gym. How sad is that, for young children?
These games allow me to inject fun into their day. I take comfort in knowing that, each activity is also stimulating their brain, by allowing them to learn while they are playing.

Funded Aug 13, 2020Thank you so much for this wonderful gift of flexibility. The children are so happy with their stools. They are able to take it with them wherever, they sit in the room. It is just the right size and weight for them to lift it comfortably. At the end of the day, the stools are disinfected for the next days use. I love how they easily fit one on top of the other.
They take up very little space when not in use.

Funded Oct 1, 2020Thank you so much for thoughtfulness. My students are so delighted with their magazine subscriptions. Because of Covid-19, my students are not allowed to touch or use books in the classroom. With Time For Kids, they get to touch, read, discuss, and take their magazines home. Each monthly delivery comes with 5 individual age-appropriate magazines, filled with articles that the students are really excited about. The articles are filled with rich and colorful pictures accompanied by amazing stories. We read each magazine several times before the students take them home. They are so proud to go home and read it to their parents. What a wonderful Home School Connection, that this provides. Thank you.
Some of these children will live in the Bronx, NY their whole lives. As a teacher, it is so delightful, to expose them to the world around them, in a way that they can understand. Thank you so much! Simple things such as crayons, erasers and pencils are needed to help a child learn and thrive. When students are lacking these basic materials, they feel left out, embarrassed, even inferior.
Thanks to your generosity my students now have what they need to create. They feel so proud having their own things. Since we are not allowed to share materials because of the virus. The community were I teach is filled with such warm, bright and loving children. Unfortunately, there isn't a lot of positive news on the television about people of color. By the time my students reach high school, they are sullen and despondent.
With your help, I want to in still a sense of pride in these youngster. I want them to feel proud of their backgrounds and cultures! I want them to understand that different is magnificent. I also want them, to be curious and accepting of others.
At this tender age students learn thru stories. With your generous donations, I now have a beautiful collection of text, that will instill self pride in my little ones. Thank you so much! You have touched souls with your love.”

Funded Aug 13, 2020Thank you so much for the Honeywell HPA300 True HEPA Air Purifier, Extra-Large Room, Black. It has made a huge difference in helping to keep the air in our classroom clean and sanitized! This machine is so quiet, that you hardly know it is there. It does not disturb the students while they are doing their work.
So many parents thanked me, once they found out about the Air Purifier, inside of the classroom. I told them all about your contribution. They said that their mind is at ease, knowing that their little one is breathing in, the purest air possible.
Our neighborhood in the Bronx, NY is one of the hardest hit by Covid-19. Parents want and need to know that every pre-caution is being taken to protect their most prized possession; their children.

Need To Learn! Help Us Become BookWorms
Funded Nov 2, 2010We are so grateful for your generosity. I don't think my words will be able to convey how your gift of leveled books has transformed our classroom, but I will try. In the neighborhood where I teach, most of the children don't have the pleasure of being surrounded by books in their homes. Often their only interaction with text is what I present to them on a daily basis in class. However, the students became frustrated because as young readers, most of the books in my classroom were not at a level the students could read independently. As an educator, I know that in order for the children to improve their reading and comprehension abilities they would need to practice by reading books at their "Just Right Level" this was especially true for these group of kids who are not subjected to literacy at home. Your donation has given the children the independence that they lacked before. Now their frustration has been transformed into exhilarations! Now the children know that they are truly readers and can participate actively in their learning. Now they and I look forward to Readers Workshop every day and I thank you immensely for that. Each child now has their own book baggie filled with books at their level, which they have chosen themselves. As a Kindergarten teacher, I know that it is my responsibility to instill a love of learning and especially a love of reading at this young age. Your gift has helped me to do that, not only for this group of 5 and 6 year olds but also for the ones that will come in the years to follow. So you see, your gift will be a lasting legacy in my classroom and again I thank you for that! As this is the season of giving, you have given us the greatest gift...Confidence!”
