In the heat of summer it’s hard to think about cold weather clothing but every year my students need so much of it that I think about it year round. Many of my students come from low income and/or transitional/homeless housing situations with very limited financial supports. Their families need to worry about shelter and food and basic necessities first and often school loses its place as a priority. Clothing is challenging since Elementary students range so much in size its hard to have enough on hand to fit every need. Having this project funded would really make a difference. Ultimately appropriate clothing helps students focus on school and learning rather than their basic needs.
