My students are GREAT kids who have lots of varied interests and abilities. When people ask what is great about our school, I always respond with "our kids are special!" Each has skills that lend themselves to success, though not all of them are academic. I try to make my classroom a place where they can realize that all of their unique abilities are special and unique. I STRESS that they are the only "you" there has ever been and the only one that will ever be! As the world of education and science change, it is my job to help prepare them for jobs that may not even exist yet and help them be scientifically literate. So, we are making a move toward more inquiry based education where they have a safe space to investigate answers to problems and become more comfortable with "failure" or "being wrong". Seeing the value of their "mistakes" and learning how to apply them to the solution is our goal.
