These resources will help my students work together on assignments and explore topics in both math and science. They need the tables, stools and flexible seating options so that they are able to discuss problems and help each other solve equations comfortably. Clipboards provide students the flexibility they need in order to move around the room and continue to work on their assignment during gallery walks. Similarly, the whiteboards allow students to practice their work, share answers and fix their mistakes! In middle school, many students still have a lot of energy to spare--fidget bands that are placed on the legs of a chair can help alleviate fidgety behaviors! Being in Hawaii, our room is incredibly connected (literally!) to nature--having ant traps on hand is a great way for us to keep our space organized and clean. Our classroom is in need of basic math and science supplies in order to facilitate learning and expand the opportunities they have in class. Having scissors, pencils, large Post-It paper, markers, and other supplies on hand can help us explore themes across content areas and build lasting connections.
It is my hope that students can utilize these supplies in order to become more efficient and organized students, and develop skills that will follow them throughout their education. By providing my students with these materials, our learning will have greater flexibility and be better able to adapt to the needs of diverse students. Furniture and organizational materials will help students better access supplies and utilize all the space in our room. It is my greatest hope that our classroom space is one that is safe, welcoming and accessible to all students. Contributing to this project will help set up my students to be successful this year and beyond!
