Frogs!!!
Funded Feb 6, 2012I cannot thank you enough for donating to our project. I was so impressed with how professional and focused my students were as they worked on their frogs. The were able to demonstrate proper lab techniques, as well as show inquiry skills as they made their way through the dissection.
Without your generosity this hands-on lab would not have been possible. My students and I truly appreciate your kindness in contributing to their education. So many times these opportunities are not available to them for lack of funding and you have helped to circumvent that. Thank you for all you have done to enhance their learning.”

Human Anatomy
Funded Jan 16, 2012I am so grateful for your generous donation to our classroom. It's been a challenging year trying to teach Anatomy and Physiology with little to no resources. The students were very intimidated in the beginning by all of the scientific terminology and how complex the human body is.
Dissecting the fetal pigs and actually looking at the organs we had been learning about was fabulous. The students were curious and excited! They were showing each other the structures in their pig and helping others to find them in their own specimens. They were seeing connections between organ systems and making creative observations. A couple students even decided to measure how long the small intestine was compared to the large intestine.
It was an exciting learning opportunity for my students, who rarely get opportunities like that. They will remember it for the rest of their lives, and I will remember the excitement of learning on their faces. Thank you so much for making this possible!”

Brains, Hearts, Kidneys, Eyes, Oh my!!!
Funded Jan 29, 2012Thank you so much for generously donating to our project. Anatomy and Physiology is a very difficult subject to learn, especially with very few resources. Some of my students had never had the opportunity to dissect before; others had only participated once in their lives. These opportunities are so important in building motivation and preparing them for college.
Receiving these organs to dissect helped my students understand anatomy in a whole new way. They were blown away that the eye was so difficult to cut through, and that there were so many structures inside. They finally understood the structures of the heart and how each contributed to the heart functioning as a whole, and they were mesmerized by the brain. These were all organs they had little interest in before seeing them with their own eyes. They were excited about learning the structure of these organs and had fun showing off their knowledge to those who came in to see what was going on.
You have truly enriched my students lives in a very powerful way. Thank you for your kindness.”

Our Trash Goes Where?!
Funded Oct 25, 2011Thank you so much for your generous donation to our classroom. The materials you helped to provide were essential in getting my students excited about learning.
The situation cards were the perfect jump start for them to begin researching where the trash we create ends up, as well as ways to reduce how much trash we actually produce. They enthusiastically created public service announcements or presentations to share with the rest of the class what they discovered. The "Where Does Our Trash Go" kit had great ideas for more hands-on activities that further emphasized our learning objectives. They enjoyed organizing the photographs to learn where trash goes once it leaves our houses, as well as doing projects that demonstrated how trash creates certain gases.
Your kindness made this unit a wonderful success and we are very appreciative of the materials that we would not have had access to otherwise.”

Frog Dissection
Funded Mar 31, 2011Thank you so much for donating to our frog dissection project. The students were so excited to have this opportunity. A day did not go by between posting the project and getting to dissect that they did not ask about the frogs. This project made them excited about science, some of them for the first time.
Being in an urban district, it is often incredibly difficult to provide these kinds of opportunities for my students. It is such a blessing that there are people out there that are willing to give to projects like these. This experience allowed them to use the laboratory and observation skills they have been working on all year. In addition, they were able to see for themselves the vertebrate structures instead of simply reading about them. These are opportunities that are all too often not available to them.
Again, thank you so much for helping to provide an unforgettable learning experience!”

See, Interpret, Create, Learn!!!
Funded Dec 3, 2010Thank you so much for your donation to our project! The materials we were able to get have really expanded what is possible in the classroom. The students love trying to new ways to learn biology and the markers, colored pencils, and poster board has given them a chance to do that.
Their first project was to, in groups, learn a small amount of material well enough to teach the rest of their classmates. They were to create a visual aid of their choosing to help convey their knowledge. They learned much more in a shorter amount of time and had a lot of fun doing it. They came back the next class period just to see if I had put their poster on the student work wall yet. They are also begging to do the project again with different information.
Because of your generosity, my students were able to actually enjoy learning difficult concepts. They were able utilize their knowledge and relate it to their own lives. Thank you so much for caring about the education of our youth, my students in particular.”
