  • Catchy Chapters

    Funded Oct 6, 2019

Thank you so much for your generous donations! With your help, we were able to add over fifty books to our classroom library!! In having these books, each student is able to find a book of their interest.

Recently, with books that were purchased, our class was able to complete a project using the "Who Was" biography books. Each student picked a person from a book that was purchased, read their biography, wrote an essay, and created a presentation. This project helped improve their reading, writing, and presenting skills, all of which we focus on in fifth grade.

My students use these books daily. Each student keeps at least one book on their desk to read when they complete assignments. I also have a time slot for students to read to self or with a partner. These books allow for their imaginations to roam and be creative with others. So thank you again for all of your help and for allowing my students to create a love of reading!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Pulliam

  • Flexible Seating for Flexible Learning

    Funded Oct 18, 2018

Thank you so so much for your generosity in donating to my classroom for our flexible seating project! My students use the various seating options daily! They are always so excited to utilize the different seats. It makes me happy as a teacher to provide them with different seating rather than using simple desk chairs for the whole day.

They sit in the chairs and wobble seats during reading time; they use the yoga mats during partner reading; they use the lap tables when they need to sit on the carpet and complete an assignment.

So thank you from the bottom of my heart for supporting me through my first year!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Pulliam

I am requesting for different types of seating for my students to utilize during individual time and during small group time. I believe that having a choice of differentiated seating opens the mind to motivation and learning. Students find it difficult to sit at their desks for the entire school day, so using pieces such as floor seats or seat cushions allow students to move in an appropriate manner around the room. It will also allow them to find the most comfortable option that works best for their learning. There are also students who feel the need to move often throughout the school day, so providing them with bands around the bottoms of their chairs allows them to move their feet and bounce and not disrupt the class. I would love for my classroom to be able to give my students daily drive and motivation. I am hoping to help my students with that drive and motivation by providing them with different ways to learn through this flexible seating.
