Everyday we have guided reading time. During this time students rotate working on 1 of 5 tasks. Our 5 tasks include writing in our journal, individual reading, an educational game on an ipad, a work sheet, and working in a small group of 5 or 6 with the teacher. During small group instruction with the teacher we read, review vocabulary words, ask questions about comprehension, and write about our reading. Small group instruction is my time as a teacher to work with just 5 or 6 students for a short period of time on their individual levels. Sitting for long periods of time is hard for 6 and 7 year olds so coming to the reading table and having a Wobbly Chair will give students something to look forward to and help them focus on their reading.
