The hardworking and highly-motivated students in my classroom range from ages 13-19 and have a mixed grasp of the English language. They are enrolled in either English 1, English 1 Honors, AP English, or Sheltered English 3 (language learners). Although we are a diverse community, the majority of my students come from a low-income, Latino background and pride themselves with the hard work, determination, and effort that their parents make in order to help them succeed.
Our goals this year are to build a classroom library that will appeal to all of my students, including English language learners who have recently immigrated to the U.S. and students who are captivated by college-level literature. We also hope to introduce new books to our curriculum that are rigorous, accessible and appeal to their generation. We hope that you will consider supporting us this year in any way possible!
