Sketch Books and Legos Engage Students in Learning!
Funded Aug 22, 2018Thank you so much for your donations. My students love their new sketch books. We are able to use these sketch books for every subject. The first day they drew a picture of themselves and listed character traits that describe them, ex kind, funny etc. We have also used the books to draw out science concepts, to compare and contrast characters in a story, or to sketch a word problem. They love their sketch books.
The students absolutely love their building blocks. Their smiles were huge when I opened the boxes and they saw all the blocks. These blocks have been used to teach math concepts but more importantly they are being used to teach social skills and to teach my students how to work together in a group. The students are having so much fun, they don't call it work.
Everyday is a new adventure in our classroom thanks to your donations. We are off to a great start thanks to your help. I am very grateful and so are my students. Thank you so much!”

Mrs. Ryan

Funded Aug 20, 2018I can't thank you enough for the generosity of contributing to this project. Now we have 5 kindle fires, protective cases, and enough head phones for all students.
First thank you for the Kindle Fires, my students were so excited when we unpacked them. Second thank you for the protective cases, because they are 3rd graders and although they try to be very careful, things do get dropped, but now if a student accidentally drops a tablet it won't break. Third thank you for the headphones. Most of our technology programs that we are required to use daily require headphones but we didn't have any. Thanks to you my students are able to listen to stories being read to them, math programs that provide individualized tutoring, and many other wonderful programs.
Next week we will be learning how to use the camera and video recording options on the kindle fire. After students have learned to take photos and record, we will combine our reading and writing skills to make a life history video. These 21st century skills are so important but wouldn't be possible without your support.”

STEM Projects Using Building Blocks Builds Confidence and Ignites Learning!
Funded Aug 22, 2018Thank you so much for the building blocks! The look on my students' faces was priceless. I let them open the boxes and the excitement grew with each box. They beg me everyday to incorporate the building blocks into our math or science activity.
We used them this week to teach patterns, the students were super excited to show off their work. They designed patterns and then explained to the group what their pattern was, ex AABB, or AAA, BBBB, etc. We had an administrator in the classroom and she was impressed with how well the students were able to use the building blocks to describe what they had learned in class.
In the next few weeks we will be using them to work on learning how to multiply and divide. We will also be using them to construct building and discuss how to fairly share resources.
In my student's eyes one of the best parts of having the building blocks is that they get to build during indoor recess. Most of these students own no building blocks at home and this gives them a chance to work as a group building projects and acting with the mini people. This means they are working on their socialization and team building skills with out even realizing they are doing "work". Thank you for your donation. We are having an amazing school year because of your support.”

Funded Aug 22, 2018Thank you so much for your generous donations. My students love reading Dr. Seuss books. These books are excellent for my students who are reading two grades level below and struggling. They are so excited to read a Dr. Seuss book that they are willing to try so hard to decode and read all the words fluently. These books are fun and as a result make reading fun to do.
The students read to each other or partner read or sometimes read a book as a group. We use the cat in the hat learning library books as a fun way to teach science or social studies. These books teach non fiction, a genre that students generally don't like to read in an exciting way. Result their fluency and ability to read has dramatically improved.
I already uploaded the photos, so you can see how excited they were when we opened the box. Their smiles were precious. Their grins infectious. They said to tell all of you thank you so much. Most of my students don't have the resources to have these books so being able to read them at home or in class has meant so much to them. I can't thank you enough for helping us to have an amazing school year.”

Funded Aug 11, 2018Thank you so much for the Kindle Fires, headphones, and protective cases. The students were overjoyed when I opened the box and explained how people cared a lot about them and wanted to see them succeed. They were amazed that someone would give money to help them.
We use the Kindle Fires and headphones in reading and math everyday. The students love to listen to stories on Read works or race each other learning math fact in reflex math. One of our favorite sites to use is Flowcabulary which works on helping them with reading, math, social studies, and science.
Next week the students are going to learn to use the camera function so they can take pictures of their station work, as proof that they have completed the activity. We also are going to learn to use the recording button so they can interview each other for one of our social studies projects.
Your donation has made our school year a giant success. We would not have this technology if it wasn't for your generosity. I can't thank you enough for helping my students. They are so grateful.”

Mrs. Ryan
