• Desperately Need a Rug and Flexible Seating for Our Classroom!

• Students Master Decoding Skills Using Letter and Sound Tiles!

  Thank you so much for your support in providing my class with letter and sound tiles.

  We use these letters everyday, in fourth and fifth grade we use them to build multisyllabic words because every child no matter how old learns better with hands on materials. In grades one and two I use them for kids to practice building sight words. We call this mix it and fix it. First we spell out the word together and they put the tiles on their board, then they scramble the tiles up and then put the word back together as quickly as they can. This combination of using motor skills, with visual, and auditory greatly helps them to learn the new words.

  With my kindergartners they are delighted to use these colorful tiles to work on the letters of the alphabet and the sounds they makes. As always none of this could happen with out your support. Thank you so much.”

• Students Need More Multicultural Books to Thrive!

  The year is quickly slipping by, it is so wonderful to be back in person. I am now teaching at Obama Elementary, which is a title one school. I am the reading interventionist, which means all day I get to work with students who are struggling in reading. This is my dream job.

  I am so grateful for your generous donations since now I can share these wonderful new books with even more students. My students struggle with reading and it is so important that they see themselves and experience other cultures through reading. Have a diverse library allows me to find books that will "hook" every student.

• Children Thrive Reading Multicultural Books!

  Thank you so much for your generous donations. Thanks to all of you, we have built up a diverse, multicultural library for our students. As I have stated before it is crucial for students to see themselves in books and to be exposed to other cultures in books.

  I am now the reading interventionist at Obama Elementary which is a Title one school. I work with students in all grades which means these books are getting into even more hands than when I was a classroom teacher.

  I am thrilled to be working at Obama, it is my neighborhood school and I believe a teacher can have the most postive impact when they work in their neighborhood. Plus now I am working all day with students who need the most help in reading. This job is truely a dream come true as is the books you gave me. As always thank you so much for everything.”

• Wilson Phonics Reading Program Proven to Close Reading Gap!

  Thank you so much for your generous donation. Since the last time I wrote I have switched postions and schools. I am now the reading interventionist at Barack Obama Elementary which is a title one school. All day I teach small groups of students in grades K to 5 using the letter tiles that you provided. This would not have been possible without your help and support.

  Since we last talked I have switched schools and postions. I am now the reading interventionist at Obama Elementary, which is a title one school. I work with students in all grades to help them become better readers.

  Building up this amazing library means now even more students will have access to these great books. They can study the art of famous african american illustrators and this also shows them another possible field they can go into especially for my students who struggle with reading but love art.

• Multicultural Fairy Tale Books Help Students Thrive!

  Multicultural fairy tales are amazing and the students love them. As part of our 3rd grade reading program we study how students learn around the world, now we can incorporate how fairy tales differ around the world.

  These books are so much fun. One of the books just recently became a Netflix cartoon show which means students can compare and contrast how the book differs from the TV series.

  Since we last talked I am now the reading interventionist at Obama Elementary working with all grades K to 5. This means your donation will help even more students. Thank you so much.”
