One of my main goals as a teacher is to make sure students love coming to school, learn a lot, and have fun while doing so. These flexible seating options will help my students to maximize their learning while being able to move and wiggle at the same time. (I mean, as an adult I hate nothing more than sitting on a hard chair for long periods of time... and yet we expect 8 year olds to do it!) The transition from 2nd to 3rd grade requires a lot more independent work, including longer reading passages, more writing, and lots of higher level thinking. By giving them an opportunity to have a variety of seating options, they will be more engaged. I currently have 2 stability balls in my classroom and students LOVE getting to use them as a reward. They are able to focus more and for a longer period of time. By having a variety of seating options including more stability balls, stools, kneeling pads, wobble seats and cushions, all students will look forward to coming to school and being able to choose from lots of options each day. Also, the Echo Dot will help with engagement in a great way. We can use it to play music during work time, transitions, and movement breaks. It will also be a fun way to learn because students will be able to ask it questions throughout the day that pertain to our learning. I have no doubt that students will really enjoy it!
