Brain Breaks and Indoor Recess Fun!
Funded Aug 10, 2021Thank you so much for your generous donations to the Brain Breaks project. My 3rd grade students were SUPER excited when all of the materials arrived. We unboxed them and it felt like Christmas day in the classroom.
It is such a wonderful change from the past on those dreary, rainy days. Before students only wanted to sit on chrome books, but now they love building, playing games, using their imaginations, and interacting with one another in positive ways.
These materials will bless our classroom a lot with the winter months coming up and continue to do so for years to come.”

A New 2020 Adventure... Teaching Live Lessons from Home!
Funded Aug 8, 2020I am so incredibly thankful for your generous donation this fall. This school year has definitely been a different one to say the least, but having updated technology has allowed for it to go way smoother than I ever could have expected.
We have been virtually teaching up to this point and will continue to do so until at least January. Having a reliable laptop to use for the many zooms has made teaching from home a breeze. I am able to multi-task with my 500 tabs open at once (it seriously seems as though that is always the case) without any issues as well.
The Air Pods have been very helpful in allowing me to hear my students clearly through our conversations on Zoom and it helps them to hear me clearly as well. It also makes the many video recordings easy to hear and understand.
So thank you again for helping this virtual learning journey be a positive experience for both myself and my students!”

Cozy Learning Environment
Funded Dec 3, 2019We are very thankful to have the new materials for our cozy classroom environment. It has made a positive impact and the students truly feel more 'at home'. When they enter the classroom, having the new lights on with piano music playing in the background is a much better start to the day rather than the harsh, super bright fluorescent lights. They always request to keep the main lights off no matter what we are working on.
We also are enjoying the small colorful rug for our library corner. It allows another seating option during our daily DEAR time so students can be cozy and not sitting on the hard, cold floor.
Thank you for your contributions to help make our classroom a happier, more peaceful, and calm learning environment where students enjoy coming to learn.”

Funded Aug 5, 2019The students were overjoyed when the seats arrived the first week of school- we originally didn't have enough for everyone (especially their favorites- the wobble chairs and stability balls). Now there are extras so they can all enjoy the type of seat they like best... without any arguing!
The students bounce and wobble away while they are learning/ doing seat work. I can definitely notice a difference from past years teaching (with only regular seats)- their attention span seems to last longer. It is going to have a lasting impact throughout the entire school year (and years to come).
Having the seats gets students very excited. We switch for math classes and when my math students came into the room the first day- you would've thought I had given them a day full of recess. I still hear students make comments about how cool it is to have fun chairs to sit in!
We truly appreciate your generosity in donating to make our classroom a more fun, inviting place to learn!”

Funded Aug 26, 2018The students were SO excited upon the arrival of our new materials. The janitor delivered all of the boxes to the classroom and they couldn't wait to open them. Every single box that was opened brought such joy! They couldn't wait to try them all out the following day!
We are using the seats daily. Students get to choose their seat at the end of the day to use the following day. It is great to have so many different options for all students to have several options to choose from (whether it be a stability ball, wobble cushion, wobble seat, cushion, or stool). I always do whole group instruction on the carpet area so I have full attention, and most of them bring their 'special' seat with them as well. The students are constantly wiggling around on the seats, so I can tell the extra bit of body movement is absolutely beneficial. I have already noticed that they are able to focus a little more during independent seat work and seem more likely to complete their work without needing to get up and move around.
The Echo Dot is also a fun addition. We always play soft music during independent work time to create a more peaceful environment. Students think it is fun to ask it questions when they are researching. For example, during a group research project they were doing on land forms, each group got to choose one or two questions they were having trouble finding on the computer. We also like to play fun dance music from time to time to get our wiggles out!
Students will continue throughout the school year using the seats daily. I am hoping to find more fun ways to incorporate the use of the Echo Dot to engage the student in learning. We are all incredibly thankful for all of the donations that were given to make our classroom a more engaging learning environment.”
