I teach English language arts and social studies at a Title 1 public school on the South Side of a large city in Illinois. Resources are often limited, and many of my students do not have notebooks, pencils, and other basic school supplies readily available to them. My project goal is provide my students with school supplies, so that students only have bring their themselves and a positive attitude to my class! The donations received will be used to provide my students with school supplies that they will use on a daily basis. While school supplies may seem small, the cost adds up quickly for two classrooms of 25-30 students. The donations go along way in ensuring students have all the tools they need to learn! With these supplies I will be able to welcome my students into the classroom with notebooks, folders, and seat sacks. We will be using the notebooks to practice writing. With their own composition notebook, students will be able to track their writing progress throughout the year. The folders will be used to keep classwork and homework organized and in one place. Seat sacks provide the second class of scholars with a place to hold their notebooks, folders, and silent reading books. It can be a bit overwhelming to be third grader sharing a desk with another student. Seat sacks ensure that every student has their own special place in the classroom that is just for them! These supplies truly impact my students' education. Providing basic school supplies for every student, ensures that every child is able to engage in learning. By donating to my project, you are providing my students with learning tools that help us have a successful school year!
