At our Academy of Excellence, one of our school wide non-negotiables for all classrooms is a morning meeting. During morning meeting the students greet each other, share, engage in a group activity, and read a morning message from the teacher. We are hoping to have new large classroom carpets funded to each classroom in our building. Our school opened in 2009 and carpets were donated to each classroom. Now, almost 10 years later, these carpets are dirty, old, and unraveling. By having bright and clean classroom carpets, the students will feel engaged in interactive learning and be able to feel more comfortable to share during our morning meeting. Any time the students gather on the classroom carpet for a whole group or small group activity, the students are continuously building classroom community through using our district shared values: justice, integrity, and fun!
