The use of a virtual platform is an everyday staple/tool for myself and my students. Students are most successful when they are able to clearly see and hear me while I deliver the Common Core Standards in my daily sessions. Building community and relationships with distant students can be challenging, these tools take away the boundaries so that students feel as if they are walking into a classroom, even if virtual.
The students will benefit by having their chat comments readily visible so that I can provide instant feedback. This will be accomplished by having a reliable larger monitor, microphone (purposed for video platforms), and external speakers. Using the laptop camera, mic and speakers has proven to be glitchy and unreliable.
