  • Book Beds!

    Funded Jul 22, 2016

    Dear Donors,

The new chair bags have helped my students organize themselves so much better this year! We have reading workshop at our school which requires our students to have at least 3-5 trade books each day. Although this doesn't sound like a lot, it causes a lot of congestion in their desks that already have a lot of other materials. Students are also able to keep their headphones and any other important items safe in their chair covers.

The students are proud of their chair covers and do their best to keep them clean and are gentle to keep them nice for future students. We are grateful for your generosity and thankful to have friends that care about education!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Watson

  • Listening is Learning...to Read Better.

    Funded Nov 30, 2011

I just wanted to send a small letter of gratitude. The headphones have truly helped my students improve their reading fluency. They enjoy listening to themselves read and now understand how they sound, thus helping them to read more beautifully.

The timers have helped the children become more self directed on their fluency activities. The timers have also allowed me to work more with children than watching timers for them. My students are honestly grateful and wanted to write more thank you notes! Thanks for being a part of our education!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Watson

  • Science Studs....Here We Come!

    Funded Apr 29, 2010

I would like to thank all of you for making this thoughtful donation to my students. We get a small amount of science supplies necessary to teach a complete, hands on lesson. A lot of the materials we teach in 3rd grade are very complicated, without allowing the students to manipulate the materials.

My students were excited when they got to work with the items, especially since we had already already began the unit. They really seemed to understand what they had learned and clarified anything that wasn't clear.

They also wanted me to pass on that you all are awesome for buying these materials for them. Although, some of these materials some students would think are gross (bodies), my students found them informative, since they had learned about them!

Once again thank you-you truly don't know how much impact you've made for this class and the classes to come!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Watson

  • Building on the Reading Basics!

    Funded Mar 19, 2010

Thank you so much for supporting my project! My students have loved using the sliding cards; they not only have built on their vocabulary knowledge, but they have allowed them to be self-lead learners. They often ask to use the materials and keep entertained for a decent amount of time.

Most people would think that by third grade that most students have mastered basic reading skills and acquired necessary strategies, but most of my students have not. The time we have allotted in our class does not allow time to catch up on missing skills, but having these materials gives the students the opportunity to close their learning gaps.

Thank you once again for taking the time and money to help improve my students' skills and love for learning! ”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Watson

  • Reading Together, Brings Us Together!

    Funded Dec 23, 2009

Thanks to all of you for making this project come to life. My students have really enjoyed reading books together and learning along the way. Since our schools funds for extra materials are low we don't really get the luxury of buying books in sets. The students have been very interested in the books and have now started to pursue reading more chapter books. It's not easy to express how much we all appreciate what you've done and the contribution you've made to my students' education.

Thank you so much for making my job a little bit easier!!

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Watson

  • Extra, Extra, Read All About It!

    Funded Jan 18, 2010

Thanks to each and everyone of you that made this project possible. My students love Time For Kids. They really relate to the stories and make connections to their own lives. It's very important for students to be able to know what's going on in the world, but many resources available are not kid friendly. Thanks to this great magazine my students are learning about the world around them.

They are using vocabulary they have never used before and their conversations have really evolved. Thanks for making my students' education a little more fulfilling!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Watson

  • Read About Real Things and Learn!

    Funded Feb 18, 2010

Thank you so much for donating to this great project. The students have really enjoyed using these materials as resources, entertainment, and reading practice. Not only has this built up their reading skills, but the students have also been given the opportunity to learn about people who've made a difference in other's lives. The students often ask to get out these materials and share facts that they've learned. It's great to see them want to learn and not be forced to do so! I know it may seem like you made a small difference, but my students and I have really appreciated everything you've done.

Thank you for making the move towards making our education stronger and our students smarter!”

    With gratitude,

  • Read And Relax!!

    Funded Jan 16, 2010

I would like to thank all of you for your gracious donation. This honestly could be, one of the most loved projects of my students. They finally love to read, because they get to sit in comfort. They do their best to keep the materials in order to make them last longer. Usually, something new gets pushed aside after awhile, but not these items!! They will even take work back to the carpet to finish with a friend. I have come to believe that there is a magnet in this carpet! Once again, without you, we would never have been able to get materials of this nature. These type of materials aren't considered important by our school, although look how much the students have enjoyed them.

We really appreciate your generosity and I only wish you could see the smiles your put on these students' faces! Thank you so much!!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Watson

  • Making Math Real!

    Funded Nov 23, 2009

It's difficult to thank you for something that has meant so much to my students with a brief note. The math, practice games that you purchased for my students have helped them to want to catch up on the skills they are lacking in. I don't have to worry about them complaining, because they ask me to use them! The students are able to use them early in the morning to work on skills necessary for the math lesson that day. This ensures that they won't be behind before the lesson even begins.

Our school continues to have budgeting issues and can only purchase what is necessary for the lessons for our grade level. It is difficult to catch students up on skills that they don't understand. It's very frustrating as a teacher to try to teach all of the expected objectives, plus the ones that they have yet mastered. I have found that going back is necessary for their success.

Once again, thank you for making education a priority. After all, aren't these students our future?? ”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Watson

  • "Dress-Up" Reading

    Funded Feb 14, 2008

First of all, I would like to thank you for funding my project. I am so excited to see how my class will blossom with these materials. They love to act and be very dramatic, but with these outfits they will actually look the part. I told them what we will be soon be getting and they got super excited. These outfits will also fit in with our wax museum we do to honor famous individuals. They do lots of research on their chosen person then dress the part. They really love doing it and they learn so much. Thanks again for being a positive impact on my students. Without you we would be using paper bags! :)
