The technology I am requesting is to help students being their designs to life with color. When engineers create designs they need to see them in color because they are visual beings. Dull, black and white designs can affect the final product when images are transferred to 3-D printers. As an educator my job is to ensure my students have everything they need to produce quality work. To have students view their work and their designs in color will give them the confidence to dream beyond their limits. My students complete a lot of project based learning activities that require them to design, print and create models of their work. Many of these projects require research as well pictures, illustrations or images that are can be interpreted better if they are in color. Future engineers and leaders in STEM need color to bring their visions to life. Although my students have access to computers in the school library to do research, printing out an image or their own creative designs in color is not available. There is color printing available at the public library but that costs money my students don’t have.
