  • Learning With Puppets

    Funded May 20, 2020

Thank you for funding this project for our class. This was a most challenging school year for all students. Students with special needs faced many challenges this year. My students benefit from day repetition of letters a day sounds associated with those letters. When I took out these beautiful, colorful puppets that represent each letter with their sounds, the class was engaged in their learning.

Having these vibrant stimulating hand puppets really helped engage the students while learning letters and sounds. Every morning the students looked forward to using them!”

    With gratitude,

  • Foundations for Reading

    Funded Dec 21, 2019

On behalf of my students I would like to thank you for your generous donation.

When I unboxed the items the students were do excited they couldn't wait to use them.

Because the students are multi-sensory learners, these tools are extremely helpful to them. Not only do they love 'playing' with the different materials, they look forward to choosing one of these learning games during choice time. These have already had a positive impact on my students.

This has been an essential part of their day.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Bocconi

  • Learning Through Legos

    Funded Feb 5, 2020

Thank you so much for supporting the students in my class. They will be using these to aid in their social emotional learning. It is so important to have exciting hands on tools that students can use while they interact with each other and learn to build things together. This will help foster growth of their social skills.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Bocconi

  • Teaching with Tablets, A Fun and Exciting Way to Learn!

    Funded Dec 3, 2018

Thank you so very much for your generosity in donating these tablets to our students. We have download several reading and math apps for the students to use throughout the day. They are really loving have these tablets!

During 'Choice Time', a student is able to choose which application they would like to go on and "play". Yes, they think they are playing a game, when they are actually learning! We have been using these for phonics reinforcement, and audio reading on their own reading level.

This is such a special gift for them because the reading levels in this class have such a wide range. The words are shown on the tablet while the book is being read to them, really help their reading skills flourish. They are much less frustrated when reading independently and they recognize their own progress while having fun! We all can't wait to see their reading progress as the year goes on. The excitement and joy that these tablets brought to this class is remarkable. I am looking forward to using these to enhance their math skills as well.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Bocconi

Tablets are a great learning tool for special needs students. Students think they are being rewarded and playing a game, when in fact they are learning. They would be using apps such as Endless Numbers, which starts off with introducing users to numbers then moves into sequences and even basic arithmetic. Interactive number based puzzles help reinforce what your kids learn in an even more fun way! No matter what mode you are in though the wonderful animations help make the game feel natural. Endless Alphabet uses colored letters to help with the ABCs. Endless Alphabet goes beyond that though and also helps kids learn words letter by letter using the same cool colored letters and adding in drawn pictures of the word to help them associate the spelling with the concept of the word.
